Nunu's Passive Rework Idea

Porosaurus··3 votes·765 views

Nunu is one of the oldest champions in League, and while he is in the list for reworks, it may take a long time due to priority issues. I wanted to share an idea for a possible rework to his passive since the current one offers little gameplay options.

Passive: Yeti companion Description: Nunu is now a ranged champion with 450 Attack Range, using snowballs as his ranged attacks. Melee Basic Attacks within 150 Attack Range are conducted by his Yeti Willump, dealing a percentage of his Maximum Health as Bonus on-hit Physical Damage. Reasoning: This new passive would provide Nunu with another damage source, adding some mixed damage to his kit, as well as distinguish Nunu and Willump from each other, thus providing a better interation between them.

Thanks for reading and sorry for any error, English is not my native language. Share your opinions below.

Ok sure but why3 votes

It sounds nice in theory. I didn't even notice there was a little midget riding on top of the yeti until a month later. I thought Nunu was the yeti.

I feel like every 5th snowball should be a big snowball that does 110% damage, that wouldn't make him hilariously broken right?

MS/AS boost + Hyper slow + ranged AA + Heal... that would make him bordeline broken as support.

TL nunu would just poke you to deat spamming W-E-AA and Auto-healing with Q when necessary... pushing almost any support out of his lane once he gets 1 mana item.

Keep in mind that he would lose the free spells passive he currently has. And without it, Nunu can be quite mana hungry.

But on principles, I usually don't like drastic changes suggested on the boards without good reasons. "Distinguish" Nunu and Willump and "provide better interaction" is not a good reason.

Loosing his current passive could be compensated by either lower Mana costs or better Mana per level, with E spamming in mind. What i meant with distinguishing Nunu and Willump is that Nunu is the boy trowing snowballs and the Willump the Yeti punching people around, this passive makes it more clear that they are 2 different characters working together. Providing better interaction as if the Nunu player wants to get clooser to deal more damage, similiar to his current passive that if he wants to get clooser to get 1 free spell or just using Ice Blast (E) from a distance.

The thing about the old passive, that was to argue it wouldn't be "borderline broken", contrary to what Deneviel said.

And I understood your reasons, I'm just disagreeing with them. WHY is it important to distinguish Nunu and Willump? You don't make such a big change to an existing champ just to have a better thematic fit. If you're concepting a brand new Champ, do whatever the hell you want. But if you modify something that's already existing, you need a good reason for that.

Nunu having an actual passive rather than one free spell every 5 autos just to prevent his E spamming and one that would preserve a similiar feeling to his current one of making him auto people with his Yeti.

I am just proposing a change to his passive not his entire kit. The rest of his kit would need other changes such as mana costs or ability damage to balance it.
