How does Ranked work?

Okay. I'm bad at this game, I'll admit that. I play Ranked because I don't care about my Elo and just play for fun. Once I hit lvl 30, I immediately started playing Ranked. I know that for unRanked players after 10 matches, you get placed into Rank. The thing is, I won 3 out of 10 games. Yeah, pretty bad. But, I somehow ended up in Bronze 1. I got confused for a second, because my friends who were a lot better than me got placed into Bronze 3 and are currently trying to get out of Bronze 2. Did Riot make a mistake? Why am I in Bronze 1 when I accidentally feed and have more deaths than kills? Every game I play I always play with at least Silver or Gold players.

if it's your very first time getting placed, you naturally get placed higher cause of Riot's incredibly annoying soft reset system. Basically, you're getting ranked from scratch if this is the first time. If you were ranked in the previous season, Riot bitch smacks you down a tier and makes you struggle just to get to where you previously were.
