Remind me why targonitem 3097 execute can't be used for range champions ?, it's an arbitrary choose, it's an item that can't be used (mechanically hard) for lot of supports champions. I don't see how range champions can overuse this item (it's a charge item), we should be free to chose our itemization.

Right now first items purchase for support are too binary. you go for frost queenitem 3092 or mountainitem 3401 (only janna and soraka use talisman ascension). If we think about it , why not proc 2 item 3098 dmg effect on melee champions , it will be easier to use for melee champions. (Like targon execute it's a charge item it can't be overuse.)

An other problem is item 3069, nobody buy it anymore, it's just more effective to buy item 3098. If item 3092 is the offensive support item and item 3401 the defensive support item , so item 3069 must be the utility support item. But before complete it bring no effect to help duo lane. Something is missing here. How to bring utility without adding combat stats ?

  • Mana flat (if your not ryze and if mana pool empty).
  • Mana regen (not fast enough to help in combat situation )
  • health regen (not fast enough to help in combat situation )
  • increase or decrease MS ( tactically important but not raw stats).

imo give a mini aura ( working on the closest ally) of mana and health regen + improve MS buff/debuff (of your spell) be 5/10/15% will be a good idea. (need balance adjustment of course).

It was originally useable on ranged champions for the patch after the item was released.

That resulted in every ADC and support taking it every game and what was essentially the removal of the jungle role (since duo top became far more effective).

The only lane which didn't purchase it was mid-lane.

Targon's execute can't be used by ranged champs to avoid being exploited by ranged adc. Even on ranged supports is kinda Op, as they don't risk as much as meele champs when cs'ing. The change you're proposing would break the item, and any nerf it would recieve wuld make it completly useless on meele supports.

On a general view, the support items are kinda fine, if you compare amongst eachother, since they all have very different purposes. The reason amulet doens't receive an aura is because it already promotes a very passive laning phase. In fact, amulet allows you to gain as much gold as the other supp items without having to do anything.

Because lanes were going double Targons for: super push, sustain, and bonus gold.

Because ranged has an advantage over melee in general.

Ranged champions can still benefit from Targon's gold and healing, they just don't get the execute.

melee champion doesn't have the kind of poke ranged champion do. Imagine Sona with Targon, Suddenly she can save mana for more poke and not waste it on W. If ranged character can activate execute on Targon I'd get that over any other item and sell it later for FQC if I have to.

Everyone can use and benefit from targon the same way , it's just lot easier/reliable to use for melee, that all. You can't blame item because champion is range or melee.
