Can't Escape Iron TFT

I hear people telling me that you'd have to be a braindead monkey not to hit plat, but I place last literally every match. I've been watching Scarra and Foggedftw play it and have been trying out their builds/tactics, but it doesn't seem to help. Everyone else seems to do the same and they seem to have a better grasp of when to reroll, when to tank, and what items synergize with what. Even when I try to follow the guides, I never get the champs I need for a given build, and I'm clearly not smart enough to adapt.

I understand that everyone has their limit, that they just aren't smart enough to get past a certain point. I just wish mine wasn't in the bottom 0.01%

i actually don't believe it's possible to hit iron in TFT. that aside, if you are indeed there, learn how to make compositions on the fly and stop following the guides. the guides are there to further understanding on how pieces come together, you can't aspire to get them from 1-1 though the game would have to give you everything you were looking for at just the right time.

also items are much more important than synergies, you can get all the synergies but if your items aren't making them stronger than your comp ain't worth shit and you'll likely lose to some 2 knights, 2 brawlers and a draven comp because he got a rageblade, bloodthirster and ruunaans. so learn how items work, or better yet you will have to fix your brain for it to be alright to build deathcap on Vi.

how to learn econ, no idea, it's easier with the latest update though so really you just have to figure out with each game when you should be rolling and when you should be saving, which means planning your games future. do you plan games well? they don't matter unlike real life so some folks will leave their life skills at the door, but as a rule of thumb (half thumb i'm no expert) start saving gold after creep rounds and figure out exactly what you need to find in the shop or carousel. alternatively you can save from carousel to carousel. one other rule of thumb, don't roll past a tenth of your gold. you started the round with 38 gold? don't let it go under 30 unless you're getting a key piece for your comp. don't think you'll get any comp pieces? shoot up on some exp. etc etc etc

p.s. some units don't age well surely you already know all this mumbo jumbo if you watch scarra though, i only catch one vid of his a week and i know enough to stumble across diamonds in my normal games, because why would i ever play tft ranked.

Look me up on the client. You'll see that I am indeed iron.

And yeah, I've heard all of this. It just seems that everyone I fight in iron also seems to know it. General rule of thumb and all of that.

ah, then you need to develop a playstyle i suppose. find some classes that you're able to build around well and hunt for their ilk each round. i do blademasters, gunslingers, elementalists, knights, rangers and shapeshifters.

iunno how the others work well enough in terms of positioning and items and i only go into them if i can't find what i'm looking for by 3-1. so for instance i always troll myself with assassin placement, sorcerers my team needs to be faceroll ready iunno how to transition with those, and i'm just bad with brawlers i don't know why.

so i try not to touch them unless i just have to lol, so 1-3 and 2-3 and 3-3 if the game gives me a brawler frontline then i'll use it, but i'll be looking for knights to throw in later instead of building up the brawlers. and i never trust the game to roll me a full noble team, any game i even so much as think about it it just "NOPES" on me and says "you should have gone imperials or yordles instead, ooooo i even gave you that juicy assassin comp you've been seeing around" and i just sigh at the state of the game.

and some units, no matter how good they are when placed in X position or when given M, N and O items, just lose me games, so i try not to touch them. brand for some reason, i never win with this unit so even if i am going elementalists i'm actually looking for an anivia and not a brand. cho, i don't win anything with this guy, at all. graves with the double RFC and red buff, not my graves though. and so on and so forth. varus, i never stack my varus it's a trap as far as i'm concerned, would rather stack my vayne over him. aatrox does nothing for me despite blademasters being my first thought for compositions. my lulu is not like enemy lulu. my braum is not like enemy braum. i never go deep into demons because nothing works for me there. i really don't like the kassadin unit unless i'm getting him 2 rageblades and a moggs and i don't even want to have to find those for a game, matter of fact i don't like any of the void units i look to replace them asap, i don't care what i see other people doing with them.

yeah i can tilt about this for days.
