That item is only a situational at best attempt to contend with champs like Mundo if they for some reason get out of control.

Maw and Ghostblade are generally the better options if going for more damage.

Irelia can get some kills to survive late game, but if not then she will fall off. Only squishy champions will really be afraid of her later on.
