Why does anyone deserve to lose points for having a feeding team?

Well see it this way A feeder is someone whi is playing the game even if badly.

A afker left the game.

Both are things that you cannot control and will cause you to lose, so I don't see how not losing LP for someone being AFK could ever be fair if it didn't apply to other things you also have no control over.

A feeder means they were inferior to the enemy team. An AFK never had a chance to impact the game.

Works both ways tbh. A feeder makes the enemy stronger, an afk doesn't. BUT even someone who has fed the entire game can be useful. I went 1/8 on diana in an admittedly poor performance in midlane, yet still 1 shot the adc and support in a teamfight leading to a baron and the win. I'd ratehr have a feeder than afk and believe the OP to be both relevent and something requiring an answer. Low ELO is already hell what with smurfs, trolls and brand new players who win 1/10 placements and somehow get S3. The fact people can go AFK and you lose as much as they do is a little insane.

Because you gain points for beating a team with an AFK and, if you don't AFK yourself, that means the odds adjust in your favor over time.

Additionally, if you didn't lost points for having an AFK, players would likely start to bully others into AFKing if they feel they've been performing poorly -- a sort of "you threw this game, so AFK and take the loss yourself." That's not a good thing to encourage.
