Can we discuss Teemo's mushrooms and how completely terrible of a design they are?

Teemo mushrooms: You step on them and take a lot of damage. He is not even close to you when this happens and they can be anywhere once the lanephase has ended. They force you into a trinket corner where you want to overstack on Oracles alterations to the point of not having enough viable vision. These are intangible strengths that greatly skew his effectiveness. The kit has its own path to victory that is hit or miss (bully out your opponent and split push) but the mushrooms are a completely separate and often random win condition. Are you or your team smart, organized, and disciplined enough to identify the areas where you will operate and THEN sweep out those areas PRIOR to engaging in any sort of activity there? No? Then you're probably about to have a miserable loss to a champion that isn't even in the same quadrant of the map as you 90% of the time. Whether it's to taking stupid amounts of damage from them prior to being engaged on, (sometimes the detection inexplicably interrupts causing you or a teammate to put a move command on the mushroom instead of an attack) or to a similarly stupid pick brought about by a lack of vision from having too many sweepers. The burden here is heavily on the party who stands to become the most frustrated. Mushrooms just aren't fun. They aren't good gameplay. Simply put they are complete and utter bullshit that add nothing to the game that is worth keeping, and I want to hear what you all have to say about them.

But Teemo has to be there to place the mushroom in the first place. It's the same as with wards. If you keep track of him you should already know where he might have placed mushrooms and where not.

It's basically the same as playing the vision game.

Teemos strength is exactly that. He can setup his minefields, and make that his territory.

If you and your team actively decides to engage into a territory where you know he set up his shrooms, that's 100% your fault.

Also, the thing you listed is exactly the same as the vision game. If you are willing to operate in an area, you should set up and clear vision there first, because everything else is just risky.

As a Teemo main (don't crucify me pls), I'll admit that his shrooms feel separate from the rest of his kit. Sometimes I can carry with shrooms alone, and sometimes I barely have a chance to use them.

That said, one reason I enjoy Teemo is because there is really no other champion that has such a strong trap-placement mechanic. So while his kit might be all over the place, I don't agree with scrapping his traps entirely.

Leave Teemo alone [sg-lulu]

Mushrooms are fun and good gameplay. There's nothing else like it in the game. You're advocating for the removal because you can't handle unique things that make you think and play differently.

Teemo's shrooms are NOT a separate and random addition to his kit; they play rather well into his scouting mechanic in their current iteration.

Arguing against some of your complaints, the reason Teemo's shroom even have the specific damage and scaling that they do is so that they can viably function as a map control tool and a viable damage threat. In evenly skilled match-ups, most Teemo shrooms will go relatively unused, so their damage application has to reflect their lack of reliability as a teamfighting damage tool. You are SUPPOSED to be at a disadvantage if you get caught on a shroom with Teemo nearby, that IS one of his major advantages. His shroom are a versatile tool, and they MAKE his kit, all other things are secondary.

Counterplaying Teemo's shrooms is necessarily important because they are his greatest aspect, especially in the late game. A tank with a single mr item (likely item 3194 ) and Control Ward/Oracle Alteration are extremely effective counters for regaining control of map quadrants. Teemo also has high base movement but incredibly low mobility, so half-coordinated ganks and flanks throughout the game are also good ways to deal with him more directly, since he's garbage in larger skirmishes and can usually only hold his own in 1 v 1 situations against specific champions.

You seem to have no viable argument as to why the shrooms shouldn't be in the game. All i read from the comments were "they're not fun to play against". If that's the case, id like riot to remove all assassins cuz they burst me 100-0 cuz its not fun dying. See the logic? The obvious counter to assassins is staying with your team & using cc to kill them. The obvious counter to shrooms is watching the mini map, and clearing areas of wards/shrooms before you try to make a play in that area. If you don't want to do that, recognize that you're choosing to run into his mushrooms carelessly. Thats your problem, not riots. Yes it's a random element in his kit. However its also positively unique. And riot wants unique.

Easy steps to dealing with teemo shroom.

  1. A Janna
  2. A Gallo
  3. A lulu Have Janna shield someone Have Gallo walk over the area Have lulu shield someone Or you can get a pink ward Or a oracles ward Or you know... build an adaptive helm. For real, it counters dots so well, it is literally anti-dot.

It's been said many, many times before, but Riot won't listen. The answer to to simply lower the despawn rate.

Shrooms are annoying to deal with, but they are also fun to play against/with. If you ward an area and protect it, teeto wont easily get in there to place his shrooms or he will just go "poof". Also consider what teeto offers overall in a game: magic damage and area control. But there are top laners that can offer the same or more damage than satan. And while he can bring damage, because of his low range and squishy nature his worth in a team fight is very low compared to a juggernaut who can run down a team with help from his team. Not even mentioning that after lvl4-5 he cant even hold his own against a good top laner, unless he got fed. So why would anyone pick satan over any other top laner? The only reason are his shrooms. The most fun part of his kit is the shrooms. Remove it and teeto will never be played even again.

That said, i feel i wanna play some games with this shroom-shitting-fluffy-annoying-thing, have fun and make a ton of people hate me [slayer-jinx-catface]

Teemos shrooms should never be able to be seen. Ever. Vision should not work on them. It completely takes away from teemos ult. No one elses ult can be nullified and become useless by a 300gp item. Make them always invisible. Stop the haters who want to sneak around without any penalty.
