Our ADC afks 20 seconds in the game. Nothing said. Just a dc. Never comes back. DC'ed within the FIRST minute.
I do my best for 10 minutes, then throw on Mobility boots and run and try to get them to push.

wolfax1 votesThey're working on a system to try to detect these people. Problem is is an automated system like the chat ban system is much more difficult to create and has to be able to analyze a large number of behaviors accurately.

It sucks for everyone, and NO ONE AT RIOT is smart enough to figure out a solution.
Honestly, Fire these dumbasses, and hire people who have simple logic to make sure people who play this game in ranked and even regular are happy.
At least take away the LP loss if the person is AFK in the first 10 minutes and NEVER COMES BACK.
It is simple coding, but no.
Have the LP loss hit ONLY the person who leaves so they are punished and NOT EVERYONE ELSE.

IGotScuttleCrabs1 votesI understand that sometimes shit happens and you can't connect for reasons out of your control but this would be a reasonable solution. If you dc you get double lp lose and a temp ban that grows in time and rest of team gets loss prevention. If you rarely dc, a big loss/5 minute ban won't be too terrible. If you dc regularly, you'll learn to avoid ranked after you get 50lp lose and longer bans over time. I feel this would cut out people with bad internet from playing ranked and RUINING the experience for others.

if they know servers are dc'ing people why are they up? take down ranked Q until they get it up and running again. or loss prevention the games with people dc'ing, but that would get abused so again shut em down till they have them fixed, if its on riots side.

How does your hypothetical system deal with problems with Riot's servers? That's been a hot issue lately, so do we punish people with massive LP losses due to an unstable server? It's not the person's fault in any way. Detect if they hit leave the game button? Ok, sure. Or they could just go to their internet, click disconnect, reconnect, and go on their merry way in like 10 seconds.

You admitting you quit trying to win and just start trolling makes you lose ALL credibility in my book especially since you can win 4vs5s with the right attitude and some team work. Impossible to abuse. Team flames you to try and make you leave? Mute and report. You get reported for not leaving? Implement a proper tribunal so you don't get punished and your team loses report weight instead.
Done and done.

You could have the match give less or no LP gain/loss for anyone. But this would be unfair to enforce mid-match (and also encourages players on a losing team to bully someone into quitting.)
Riot has said they're looking into things like pausing or restarting a match if a player DCs at the loading screen. They cannot really do anything about mid-match DCs -- and before you come back with "but DOTA2...", these count as a full loss in DOTA2 as well. They only ignore the match if someone leaves right at the beginning.

How many random power outages do you have?
And when people start losing divisions due to Riot's servers, maybe they'll finally get fixed.

The servers would usally effect everyone on the match, not just pick out one person.
