Bruiser Kassadin

I know that it is standard that Kassadin is played AP, but I like breaking the meta. So i was trying bruiser. Tell me what you think in the comments.

Kassadin item 3078 item 3748 item 3053item 3009 item 3742 + a countering tank item Taking Grasp of the Undying as the keystone. Taking Ignite and Teleport as summoners.

Will provide a replay in a few hours.

Edit: Replay will be from LSI. Dunno how compatibility works, so just a warning.

When you mentioned a countering tank item I was like "But there's 6 items already there?!?!"

Kassadin is not an item.

FormationX1 votes

Is that very distracting that I should remove it or is it K?

Seems like you wouldn't have much mana. But maybe you're not planning on Rift Walking a bunch?

I'm curious to see the results.

Agreed, I'd take a gauntlet over trinity and maybe frozen heart instead of deadmans.

You need Trinity over Gaunlet for the damage. Kassadin doesn't have AD scaling spells or high base damages so he needs higher damage AD items/CDR so he can spam riftwalk and keep his E charged for sticking power. And the 200% Trinity proc will be much more damage than the 100% Iceborn proc will and since you build CDR, you're basically going to proc Trinity every 1.5-2 seconds.

FormationX1 votes

Could be, but I think that it gives way too much damage so it can be replaced. Mana isn't a problem usually, since if you would die, you die. Ult ain't helping you.

Its actually a better build than AP kass. Ive done it before - not with titanic hydra and gauge, i used maw and spirit visage - and its very effective for a skirmisher playstyle.

You dont really need much mana as AD kass, your W fills all your mana needs and Q-- > R --> AA --> W --> E --> Fight until they run away or they win the engagement --> R out to safety/R in for the kill.

Warmogs makes a fantastic last item because it lets you reset to go back in later without going back. Spirit visage is also very useful if they have a lot of AP on their team.

Gauntlet is pretty mandatory for bruiser builds unless you want to have absolutely no mana.

SlashStriker2 votes

Wonder why some champions don't have Duo scaling values on at least 1 ability. Kass W makes it perfect candidate for both AD and AP scaling in single ability since it benefits his basic attacks

FormationX1 votes

Well he was made in mind as an AP assassin. Why would he have an AD ratio?

as far as i know he was reworked AS an AP assassin. Originally he was just an antimage; a fighter who was designed to silence mages and steal mana.

FormationX3 votes

Good points which i cannot counter.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

Why would ashe have an AP ratio on her ult? The world may never know.

FormationX2 votes

Isn't that connected a little to the Baron buff? A rioter sad that Jhin (and maybe a few others as well) had AP ratios so the AP part of the buff wouldn't feel useless. Perhaps it is connected?

AMYS GRAVE3 votes

And that is probably why kass should have some sort of ad ratio, because baron gives some ad too. Also i'm a fan of those kind of things because that's how fun off builds are found.

FormationX4 votes

AD is kinda activated on basic attacks, so... Go on?

AMYS GRAVE3 votes

But my would my AD Kat do without her AD ratios on her w and r?!

FormationX2 votes

Then you would have misspelled AP.

i prefer frozenheart over deadmens, the aditional mana combined with your W allows to keep riftwalking as long as you stay in aa range, and 20% cdr are always nice. Also, why boots of swiftness? You play a champ with 3sec base cd on a setp, you don't worry alot about slows or ms in general as kassa. I'd also take fervor over grasp after all the grasp nerfs. Between his base as, ect runes and trinity, he gets quite some as to get alot more dps from fervor than grasp could ever give(you need ~3700 hp for grasp to deal as much damage as fervor, just that it's only every 4sec rather than every AA), and the healing on grasp really isn't much to speak of anymore.

Last time i played him as brusier, my built was item 3078 item 3111 item 3022 item 3110 item 3091 item 3053 , not as much burst as titanic gives, but more dps and great for catching poeople for your team with the mallet slow.

FormationX1 votes

Perhaps you are correct about the keystone. But remember, I take swifties because of low Mana, so that I can atleast replace a blink or two with flat movement speed.

Sire Hippington1 votes

With FH+Trinity, you have enough mana that your W vs champs restores enough for a fully charged riftwalk(which deals good damage aswell), so ms isn't needed with that adaptation. Tbh, i don't see why I would try to get artifical ms from deadmen's+swifties instead of mana/cdr when i have the most powerfull mobillity tool in league on my champ.

CerealBoxOfDoom2 votes

bruiser kass is great until a real bruiser comes looking for trouble

FormationX1 votes

Correct.

It is off-meta though.

Kassadin item 3042 item 3078 item 3158 item 3053 item 3146 item 3742

This build actually works, I know a dude who got diamond doing it. The mana is the key aspect because it makes riftwalk still chunk while you have good sustained and moderate burst with Trinity procs + gunblade and its active. You're not SUPER durable but kassadin is so slippery that this build makes you beefy enough. The downside is it takes some time and levels to get going, not to mention its some expensive itemization.

FormationX2 votes

I would like to know more...

MunchCrunchLunch2 votes

kassadin's base damage is so fucking low its not worth doing that. kassadin has the lowest base damages. of any mage. any mage. or maybe even any champion. dude go tank on annie u will do more damage.

I just don't think you should handi cap yourself like this X_X

gauntlet for mana?

Not really necessary. Read further down.

i actually build bruiser Kassadin , but AP bruiser:

item 3025 item 3027 item 3003 item 3158 item 3001 +situational item

[{quoted}](name=Riot Sotere,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=WifkIzUj,comment-id=0001,timestamp=2016-06-27T22:35:01.461+0000)

Kassadin without riftwalk is even more useless.

I wouldn't say playing Tankadin is breaking the meta considering Tankko and Fish Tank are meta as fuck

The exact terminology in this case doesn't matter. They're assassins building tank or bruiser items rather than assassin (?) items. Doing it on a not-so-popular champion isn't breaking the meta, is adapting a not-so-popular champion to the meta.

Kassadin hasnt been a real assassin in a very long time. To be an assassin you have to; A) Have base damage burst B) Have scaling damage burst C) Have to be mobile D) Have to be safe from getting blown up yourself

Kassadin hits ONE of those notes. He is mobile.

Tank refers to HP/resistances where BRUISER refers to damage/HP. It just so happens the best in slot HP items have resistances. Because kassadin has one of the worst non-support base damages in the game and some of the worst scaling of non supports in the game, he cannot be called an assassin. He is just "a mid laner" and has been for years.

Varus Vindicator1 votes

if bruiser is HP/damage what is damage/resistances

if bruiser is HP/damage what is damage/resistances

Damage/resistance is niche. theres only three items with that; two of them are AP and one of them is AD.

You could call them fighter items i suppose?

Varus Vindicator1 votes

I ment a a full build of only damage and resistance, but fighter fits that too sence i only build that way on champs i build a lot of Life Steal on/have high in kit sustain.

Has anyone ever built frozen heart, iceborn gauntlet, seraph's embrace, muramana, and a ROA/MR item before? Because that, imo, is the most hilarious yet underrated build ever.

That gives you over 3000 bonus mana. Your W will restore way more mana than your ult cost ;P

Seraph's embrace will shield you for over 1000.

And your ult HURTS.

Only flaw is how long it takes to stack.

Do notr that muramana procs twice on his w, for a total 12% of mana bonus damage, that is, 480 damage with just the items listed up there, not counting auto attack damage, iceborn damage, or his w's bonus damage.

FormationX1 votes

I thought of going with both 1000 Mana items, but I thought it was overkill.

It's pretty hypercarryish tbh. Delays your strength till late game, but when you get strong, you're REALLY strong.

Spoofghoul1 votes

i used to do proxy kas

with item 3117 item 3512 item 3068 item 3025 item 3748 item 3742

just put the zZzrot somewhere then go farm behind enemy tower or in their base since you have this 2 sec flash and the mobi boots with deadmansplate you are quite uncatchable it pure troll really no one can get to you unless they use all 5 people and surround you and even then you can sometimes make it out regardless

if people chase you zzrot would take their turret if they dont well you are catching the minion wave before ti meets yours so their tower wittles away under the pressure

but this was like very long ago

thought id post it in this antimeta kassadin thread

FormationX1 votes

Why are you talking of Singed ?

I get what you are saying though. Could work.

Spoofghoul1 votes

well it does work but it is kind of lame because you play ''outside'' of the game

you pretty much hard ignore everything and everyone and just keep the minions shoving in the enemy direction

its pretty toxic to have to deal with

everytime someone shows up you just run away with your ult and mobi boots

but this was a long time ago i think right now the build would be a bit different

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Idk why you would do that, why not simply pick a champion that has more CC and that can abuse titanic hydra even harder? The only reason why I see people doing this is to have a mobile bruiser.

Varus Vindicator1 votes

What do you think about replaceing Tforce with muramana? he has high mana costs for R and i think he has MP scailings. speeking of mp scalings, frozen heart?
