Hi i started playing the game to be on my schools e sports team. Unfortunately though I am having a hard time finding the right champion for me. I have played the game and have taken a lot of time but is till haven't found the perfect one for me. I know this game is made to play multiple champions but I want one that I can rely on if I need to. Can someone help me find a champion that I can rely on without worrying about being a burden on my team. I play top mostly and like to be able to have good crowd control. I like to be able to dash in and deal damage without worry about dying instantly. but I also want the dash to be an escape method if needed. So a player with good attack speed and crowd control with slight mobility would be nice.

Try Shen. He seems to fit your criteria.

Regardless of how far behind you are, Shen's R will always be useful and can turn the tide of a fight in the matter of seconds. Shen also has a dash Taunt and can block all basic attacks with the press of a button (great against fed ADCs, Master Yi's, or Jax's). Also can use his dash to escape if needed.

He is also a tank, so he doesn't die instantly. And although tanky, he can dish out high amounts of damage and can easily solo carry games. You can also play Shen support and I have heard of Shen jungle but haven't seen it in a long time.

Just a warning, I don't play top but I have been playing for over a year now so I at least know what your looking for.

My recommendations would be Kled, Ornn and Renekton. Kled ok mobility without ult, and incredibility engage potential with it, for both him and his team. He is also INCREDIBLY ANNOYING to kill because of how Skarl works, though his cc is only ok because of how his enemies can avoid it. Ornn has only meh mobility and is much more of a tank than the bruiser play style that you described, but he is one of if not the best tank in the game right now with incredible cc, and a tiny bit of mobility to boot. Renekton is generally considered one the easier top lane champions, but don't let that make you think hes weak. His stun is strong and can hit multiple champions, his ult makes him near unkillable, and his dash is so good that some people don't even take flash on him. To be honest, Renekton fits the playstyle you described the best of these three, and I would recommend him the most.

If you try all of those and don't enjoy any (a main should always be enjoyable even if they aren't great), then you could try out Poppy, Aatrox, Gnar or Shen. The only other champ that comes to mind if Riven, but i wouldn't recommend her due to her incredible difficulty.

PS If I'm not mistaken, Tiamat is taking heavy nerfs on the PBE right now and this may eventually be brought to live in 10.5 so Kled and Renekton might be taking a hit pretty soon, though they will definitely still be playable.

What id recommend for toplane isnt finding a main, its learning to be flexible. Toplane players should be very flexible with what they play so that they can adapt to what their team needs, your almost like a second support. If you play one champ every game the enemy team will quickly check your opgg and you'll be banned out and end up under preforming. You should try starting by playing a certain style of champ toplane, so i would start by practising meta bruisers. Ornn, morde, aatrox, kled, darius, are good starters. They all are toplane bullies allowing you to beat out your top opponent and scale with your team. Once you are comfortable with alot of bruisers you should start moving on to practice carry champs like camille, jax, vlad, ryze. When you have tank jg and supp you run a carry. When you have ap supp you run a bruiser. Its all about adapting to your team, top lane rarely decides games on their own.

But yeh play aatrox, hes easy to learn, has mobility, 4 methods of cc, dmg, and is very strong in team fights even if you lose laning phase.

I'm not sure how tanky you're looking for, but one of my favorite champs to play top lane is Camille ! She's a lot tankier than Fiora Riven and can use her hookshot (E) to escape and engage unlike Irelia .

However, speaking from experience if you're trying to play on an esports team you'd have to get used to a lot of different type of top lane champs. I'd recommend getting a good variety of both tanks, bruisers, and splitpushers that all fill a different agenda

Try Aatrox He's the best frontline champion in the game. He has very few bad lane matchups and is the best teamfighting bruiser in the game. If you're coordinated with your team on comms he becomes even stronger because you can guarantee resets. The Aatrox Flank and Aatrox TP are some of the most fearful things in the game. He has low cooldown spammable CC and a low cooldown dash too.
