A couple questions about Kayn

So I've been really into Kayn right now but I've been having some struggles with staying consistent on him. I've got some questions about what I should or shouldn't be doing with him.

  1. What should I be doing if there's no one to gank? Kayn seems to be heavily dependent on ganking in order to get his transformation as soon as possible, but what happens when all your laners are pushed and winning lane? If I just farm the jungle I can't get my transformation. Should I try invading? But then what if I'm against a jungler like Kha'Zix who's good at dueling, or what if the enemy jungler is melee when I want to go Shadow Assassin or ranged when I want to go Rhaast? Which brings me to my second question:

  2. When is it best to go SA and when is it best to go Rhaast? It seems to me like Rhaast is vastly superior to SA, and whenever I go SA I feel pretty much useless, even if the enemy team is mostly squishies. Is there a certain situation when SA is better than Rhaast?

  3. What's the best clear for Kayn? I usually go wraiths to red to wolves to blue to scuttle/gank, but is there something better? Or does it just depend on the game?

  4. Final question, is red smite better or is blue smite better?

Thanks for any answers you can provide and any other general tips/tricks for Kayn.

Okay. So question one is pretty easy. Don’t pressure it. The later the game goes the easier your transformation is to get. After 13 minutes, one rotation will get your entire transformation. If you want to invade get vision on the enemy jungler first and take the opposite side.

Question two is also pretty easy. When to go shadow assassin

  1. Enemy team has 3-4 squishies
  2. Your team comp already has good engage and a tank.

When to go rhaast

  1. Enemy team is really tanky
  2. Your team needs hard engage
  3. Because you feel like it. When in doubt, just go rhaast.

I jungle Ivern, so don't take anything I say to heart. But I like to go red, raptors, Krug, gromp, blue, wolves, gank every lane starting with the one that's losing the most, try to counter jungle but run if you see ANYBODY. I take Rhaast 99% of the time since I'm a very aggressive player tbh. I main support and even then i play Nami Thresh and Taric aggresively

howdy ive been playing a ton of kayn recently and im no pro but ive picked up a couple of things kayn actually builds more progress for transformation the longer the game has gone on for example if you get a kill early on it might fill it up like 1/4 but if you get a kill around the 20 minute mark or later you can fill it up like 3/4 so dont waste a lot of time ganking early because you will get your transformation eventually when i want to play as rhasst i generally put points only into Q when i finally get rhast form i put all points into W for better cc

while playing shadow against squishies is generally the best idea when im stuck against a team of cc heavy mages i take rhast and build magic resistance for more cc and protecting squishies my normal rhast build against cc heavy mages is item 3071 item 3065 item 3194 item 3111 item 1400 item 3814 kayn is strong but cc can counter him hella hard i play him very passivly early before i get form and items then extremely aggressive late game i start raptors with q then lvl 2 i take e (for bonus health to take red) then i go for scuttle if the enemy jungler is already at the red scuttle dont fight for it unless you know youll win, just haul ass using your E to the other scuttle, invads are your biggest weakness so always be carefull and keep up vision i hope this helps a little, bit good luck*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

I have been a kayn main for a couple weeks now and I honestly play his SA 99% of the time. I found that its easiest to carry your teammates with SA since you can one shot any adc, mid laner, or non bruiser. I think I have around a 65% win rate with him right now, and that's including trying to carry my friends that are newish. You need to communicate to your team, letting them know to let the enemies push and if they continue to not listen than just farm. You can also wait for the counter gank by tracking the enemy jungler. Kayn is extremely good at counter ganking due to his E.
