I wouldn't do it myself but I do get where OP is coming from. It's frustrating to go even in a lane only to lose because mid lane went 0-6 to Irelia and now she's running over the entire match.
It makes no sense to keep on fighting the enemy once you die even once to him. Why? Because when the enemy lane comes back, they're going to be at least 300g ahead of you in combat stats and if they out played your ass once they can do it again only now they have more items to do it with. The two exceptions to this is if your JG is actively ganking you, and there's no chance for a counter gank (their jg is dead, or mid is dead, or both are on the opposite side of the map.), OR if for some reason you have a combat summoner spell advantage AND you have the ability to poke them down with better waveclear/wave management. If you manage to die under one of these conditions don't bother fighting them again till you hit a spike and its team fighting time cause now they're 600g ahead and you're kinda screwed.
So yeah saying "stop feeding" means you should hug your turret and not do anything stupid. And for havens sake ping the shit out your lane if they roam.
You don't have to carry/be amazing at the game. You don't even have to win your lane. You just need to understand when your laner opponent is better than you in a 1 v 1 and how to make yourself easy to carry. The more you feed your lane the harder it is for everyone else on your team to turn the game around.
Ty for getting it, I don't try to ever actively feed. Sometimes I just sit back and don't die, but its the people who just run into death, or get upset because I tell them to stop doing it and report me that upsets me. Riot seems to have taken this "non bully" system to far, I can't even type in the games. Even if I say just hug turret someone would possibly say "chill", "worry about your lane" or critique my play style in some form
