Queue With Players Your Level?

I would like to know how people are matched up in normal summoners rift games. In 1 game, the player with the highest level was in the 60s, while the game after had a player at level 117. I am level 34, and NOT a smurf account. I just feel like sometimes I play against people way too experienced for me and I end up getting destroyed. The game with the 60s player I went 15/2/10. But against the level 117, I went 1/17/5, because they are far more experienced in playing than me (more than 4 months I would think). How does matchmaking work, because I'd love to get paired with players my level or a little over, but 117 is too much. Thanks.Quinn

Levels dont matter, MMR does. You're all around the same skill rating, players just hav good days and bad days

Hey there. I can answer this for you.

Previously, levels were capped at 30. This preseason, Riot lifted the cap and changed how leveling works and rewards for it so now it works similar to games like Overwatch, as I understand. Similar to those games, levels have nothing to do with matchmaking, it's only somewhat reflective of time played since the change. Matchmaking works on your play history and which groups of people you win or lose against and places you with similar people.

In summary, a person can win or lose against someone but their level compared to that result is basically coincidental.
