Emotes... really?
I thought it was April Fools today when I logged in and saw this trash.
Then I laughed out loud when I realized you have to pay REAL MONEY to get them.
HAHAHAHAHA
It's bad enough I have to play with trashy children who try to surrender at 15 every game after 3 deaths.

What if I told you that DotA also has emotes?
Dota has cosmetics that costs $300+ for half the effects your average $10 League skin would get. (Arcanas in dota are nice though)
Plus an arguably worse lootbox system

Well, with rune pages gone, runes gone (so more IP for Champion buys you then wont buy with RP) and the free loot chests giving you free skins, you cant blame RIOT for trying to get another source of income.
Think about it from a business perspective: now emotes will be in chests, reducing the chance of Skins or Champions to drop, which in return will increase the willingness of players to buy them with real money.
Why do you care? It's a free game. Riot can sell whatever cosmetics they want.
If you like them, then buy them.
if you don't like them, then don't buy them.
