EVERYTHING! Don't worry you are doing the same thing wrong that I'm doing. I know this sounds bad, but I see it more than not that many gold players don't have any objective control. We can ace the enemy team and everyone splits up and goes to farm.....like really? Now I'm a support main and its kind of hard for me to push down a lane and take a tower as any support. Players take baron and just sit around with it using it to farm. There are many times where a team is ahead and they throw it away when they have a great teamfight and decide to continue to lane and get overtaken. They lose by not grouping and instead wanting to do their thing because hell they are ahead.

It seems like there are just a few major things that players in gold don't seem to understand. They can't turn a lane won into a game won. They tend to stay in lane or not help where its needed and the game can snowball against them. They don't seem to know when to actually take towers either. I've had supports when I adc that want to take the tower as fast as possible, but sometimes when you are dominating lane enough its better to send your minions into the tower and make the enemy adc lose that much more cs especially with champions like Tristana and Vayne where they need the early game to snowball them into the late. I've shut down many of these hypercarries by simply denying them cs. Now of course this method doesn't work all the time, but its something that I find that people don't understand at all. They want to take the tower as fast as possible. Now that makes sense against an even lane since you get quick gold and can roam, but against a lane you are dominating or against a lane where there is a hyper carry you can easily slow them down and make them a nonfactor or bully them by simply letting their tower stay up. Also this puts pressure on the jungler to roam bot and break up the fights and either get a kill or reset the lane.

As I stated above I see baron calls really early just because you ace them no matter the cases. People will go baron just because you ace them even if your team/only tank is almost dead and complain when we lose it or die after. Instead of taking easy outer/inner towers they want that baron that many times they don't know what to do with. In a game where objective control is key you need to take towers first to set up those bigger objectives like baron/drag. Anyone with game sense knows that its easier to take said objectives when you have better map control and that stems directly from taking towers and placing wards. Also baron can be taken when you kill just 1 person on the enemy team namely the jungler. While its not always the best idea to go baron when they have someone like a ziggs with long range ults that deal massive damage who can act almost like a smite. Also it can be forced in the right cases when your jungler out lvls theirs since obviously your jungler's smite is stronger than the enemies and that can make a huge difference.

Then there is building. I both love and hate (depending on if they are on my team or not) when I see someone go full armor or straight damage when they shouldn't. Let me give you a good example. Lets say there is a Renekton who is losing hard in top lane. I can't tell you how many times they rush that Tiamat still or worse build a Hydra.

Now I'm not perfect by any means and my calls aren't always the right ones, but I feel like I have a decent grasp on objective control that at least seems above average compared to my fellow players at my level. I'm still not the best at all lanes or consider myself adequate in every situation. I have my key champs that I rely on and I'm always working on increasing my champion pool and trying new things and new builds to improve my understanding of why something works instead of see a pro use it and going "Whelp it must work," (major pet peeve of mine). These are just some of the big things I'm seeing when it comes to players at gold elo and why its seems so hard to move up the latter.

Thanks man for giving a detailed analysis on that. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to write all of that. I will try to apply all of that which you told me. I believe that is true though ill win a fight or something and go right back to farming.
