PvP too difficult

ciekiu··5 votes·2,036 views

Hello!

I've been playing LoL for about two weeks now, and PvP matches for a few days. Co-op against AI's is easy, but the PvP's are too difficult. I constantly get opponents and teammates that are way above my skill level. I don't understand what I am expected to do in many situations, and it's not fun to be the one player whom everyone blames for the loss.

Seeing that there is no way for me to manually choose a PvP game with an appropriate skill level, I wonder if the system does this automatically? If it doesn't, I could probably learn and become better at the game, but at this point, just quitting and playing something else seems more attractive.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Ok, thanks for all the replies! I will try them out. I play 95% Ashe so Halloween might be able to help me :)

You're playing against smurfs(people who know how to play the game that make a new account) these people are disgusting people who ruin the fun of others such as your self. There is no way around this the only thing you can do is keep playing co-op ai until you're high enough skill to play normals. Try to get a friend or someone on the boards to help you learn as a player. This game is not a new player friendly game but just hold on. You can add me if you want me to help you out but I only play support so I don't think i'd be able to help you out on any other role other then adc.

Edit: Sorry man were from different servers so I can't add you. D:

I don't think one could learn the fundamentals of PvP by playing vs.AI matches, it's way different of an experience and adherance to the meta--down to which items are optimal as opposed to bearing the unforgivingness of players/the entire new-player-experience of the game and learning from experimentation--is pretty much required. vs.AI really doesn't teach that unless players altruistically decide to help you out.

What helped me learn the basics of appropriate champion picks, the metagame, and the finer points of play like proper ward positioning, handling jungle-invades and learnig about counterpicks and how to work with/against them was a combination of Player Guides and YouTube streams. There is a near-infinite source of information regarding league on YouTube, and (provided the content you're watching is up-to-date with the current season) will help a lot as far as learning to play like the more-experienced players goes. Mobafire is also excellent for learning about optimally-building a champion and learning how they work at different stages of the game.

Good luck, and don't be disheartened if you don't do well outside of Ranked because this game has a tremendously-steep learning curve, especially if one doesn't capitalize on all the information players have provided over the years. It really does make a difference.

The Season 6 runes/masteres tutorials on Phreak's YouTube page also get an honorable mention because they made the new build options a hell of a lot more clear for me personally. Definitely worth a watch once you've got the basics down. I strongly urge you to wait until you can equip level-3 runes--buying the budget ones isn't the end of the world, but it does tend to be an unnecessary Influence-Point sink that serves very little purpose in the long run. I personally don't see the point of the level-1-or-2 ones to be honest.

Try the intermediate bots? Try the other modes? Aram is pretty chill and people won't complain as much due to the lack of skill since most players are using a champion that they are not familiar with

You're lucky you have people that are willing to help you. Back when i first started my friends would just make fun of me and laugh at the stupid stuff i would do, but that gave me motivation to get better so i'm glad they did that :)

friends who dont tell friends how to do stuff may be trolls or the new friend might not take orders well

Basically what Halloween said. It took me some time to find a spot i was comfortable in and did have some help from friends and met some good and helpful players. But yea, keep at the vs AI until you get the hang of the various roles.

Okay, unlike these others I'll give you gameplay advice.

Predict with your skillshots. When you ward, your aim cursor turns green if it'll land in a bush.

That is all. I wish you the best. I'd friend you and all, but I gotta go for the moment. Good luck!

back in season 1 i played co-op only to level 30 afer getting dumpstered in pvp at level 2. literally hundreds of ai games, bbefore having the courage to learn in pvp. You gotta play pvp eventually i guess, dont be afraid of getting shit on

well pretty much anyone who played mobas for the first time even at the beginning of mobas learned the hard way, i learned the hard way with dota, hon and lol so why shouldnt you? just play and learn from each match you play and playing a champion you are comfortable with helps alot. now if you don't think this is helpful then i dont see any other option for you to get ready for pvp, maybe coop ai but i dont really know if that helps players get better at playing the game against real players.

some games there will be players better than you, some at the same skill level as you and some below your skill level. thats just that.

remember, bots are better than many people. I don't play normals when I want to practice mechanics. I play 1v5 bots.

Thats the way it is. I recommend you quit this game entirely because it really is crap. Its just addicting crap. So you might get addicted and start to play it alot... but you'll hate it.

The matchmaking isn't the best to be quite honest. It takes time and patience but, you will get better the more you play. You'll more likely than not be put through the grinder for quite a few matches but trust me, from one noob to another it gets better with practice.

it cant determine your skill level until you play a certain amount of games and like some other guys say smurfs too.

What I recommend, is start with a class of champions and go from there. Personally, I love tanks, and fighters. My top favorite champs are Shen, Xin Zhao, Nasus, Renekton and Swain(mage, but beefy, can be played mid or top).

I remember when I first started playing lol, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I was frequently called a feeder(I had no idea what that was at first).

Focus on one champ, and practice, and once you have a good feel with that champ try another and another until you find one you like playing.

Good luck!

Hmm... there are guides on youtube and stuff. Do you use MOBAfire alot? it's a website where people provide guides for certain champions. Kinda useful. Also, if your entire team is getting mad at you, don't be afraid to type in /mute all in chat. Don't do it when someone is trying to give you advice lol, like go splitpush bot the entire enemy team is top, or etc.

practice last hitting (only hit minions once while they are low health) and FARM FARM FARM (kill minions). Dont play to get kills, play to stay alive and farm, the kills will come.

one big issue is, the system does do it's best to match you with people of similar skill level, however, (this is a severe problem without a very good answer) very often low levels are filled with people in gold or higher ranked who just got bored and wanted to make a new account. so even though you may be a level 15 summoner vs a level 5, if that player is platinum or even diamond, you've very little chance to get by. sadly there is no good way to fix this besides just do your best and don't let it get you down, league takes a lot of time to learn even the basics

i'd recommend practicing bots for a while, if you're having a decent (easy) time, set yourself some limits, try not to go back until you die, try to only cs and never hit opponents, try to always be auto attacking, constantly (you'll be shoving the wave into their tower) while hitting opposing champions as much as possible, these aren't insta win skills, but they can be very good to learn and good practice if you're having trouble with pvp, but not much issue with pve

one of the most important skills to learn: last hit, about 15 minions = 1 kill's worth of gold use your trinket... even if you don't see many people, try and make a point of warding a bush in the river every time it's on cooldown... learn this skill now and it will take you far

i highly recommend taking just 2-3 champions at most (or maybe even 1) that you really like and focusing on them. especially at low levels, don't grab a new champ and go to pvp, as someone who knows their champ better will simply wreck you. pick a few champs you really like and try and get as good as you can with them, the better you know your champion, the better you can do, even if you don't know the opponet's champion very well, if you say 'i know my champ can do about 300 damage" and they have 400 hp, you know that's not enough for a kill (once you get more experienced, it's recommended to learn at least 1 champ for every role, though some can overlap, like poppy can jungle or top, for example)

i mean no offense, but i also recommend staying away from the jungle until you're at least summoner 20+, either that or stick to simple champs like warwick in the jungle. the jungle is very difficult without a lot of experience and the runes/masteries to back it up. also, especially at low levels, people will often blame the jungler if they think they're having a bad game, you've been warned

Am a level 22 who consistently gets matched against silver, gold, and plat players. I can either try to actually play and have fun but feed in doing so and lose the game, or I can play it safe and get 0 kills and very little CS but let myself be carried to victory.

Matchmaking y u do dis.
