Draft Pick Queue Bans

I really don't understand why we have over 123 champions but only 3 ban picks, I think in order to make the game a bit more fair, more bans could possibly be added in to draft pick?

It's very easy to get countered when playing in this queue form, and I know this is the purpose but with so many champions busting the meta with whacked out kits it's hard to fight back, and is becoming a bit overwhelming. Sucks some of the fun out of the game, in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Part of playing a game and mastering a champion/role is to know your matchups and how to play against counters. If your first pick, pick a champion you are comfortable with even if you do get countered or one that has very little counters.
