Thanks Riot for Finally Crippling My Ping

I don't know about the rest of the Pacific Northwest, but I just went from 30-40 MS to over 120 MS at any given time. As much as I know the move helps out a lot of East Coast players, doing so at the cost of your West Coast players is hardly a long term solution.

E: I mean really, various online games utilize NA West and NA East servers just so they don't have to choose which side of the nation is the favorite at any given time. I know they expressed difficulty in doing such a thing, but I can't see how account migration on a new server would be any more complicated than when the LAN Server was established. It's just ultra shitty.

You should learn how to type for one. Then you should learn not to be a dick because riot just moved the problem you once had to the other side of the country. See link

On average, the extreme ends of ping should be much closer. Some, like you, will have it worse than average, but overall the improvement was huge.

That was your choice though.

If you wanted to spend time and money on this game with that high of a ping, then good for you. The server move isn't giving us a choice.

That's like saying "you shouldnt pay for a good service although it is a little slower". Doesn't make sense now does it?

Nothing you just posted makes sense...

What you said by saying

Is like saying that you had a choice of how good your connection was. That wasn't your choice. A choice (by your example) is paying for an instant service (Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc.) over something such as Blockbuster, Walmart, or other stores. Then you complaining because the connection to the Netflix server is slow. You chose to pay for a service. You didn't choose what the speed the company would send you the information. You assume it would be fast because you paid for it.

Lol why are you trying to use Netflix as an example? Try using Youtube, because they are both free. You don't ever have to pay for anything in this game if you don't want to and so this isn't an issue of "I spend $500 on WoW and $15 a month and I get 200 ping". It is all free to play, so yes not playing the game sucks but you don't lose anything out of it.

You completely misunderstand how those sites work, and how League of Legends work. That comparison in no way works out.

You choose to play a competitive game knowing full well your ping was over 100, you choose to spend money on a game that you had a high ping on. That is your choice. I would not have, why? Because I choose not to invest time and money into something I'm not going to get the best experience out of.

You can't choose where the servers will be, but you can choose to play or to not play. East coast players had a choice not to invest time and money into this game if their ping was going to be high. However those of us in Alaska, Hawaii, and the west coast are now being told that pings over 100 are okay for us AFTER we invested time and money on the west coast servers.

There should really be two NA servers, and I always thought this because I do have friends on the east coast who decided not to play because of their ping, not all, but some.

TL;DR You knew what you were getting when you signed up. You can whine and moan, but don't act like you were cheated in the way some of us are being cheated now.

so because u spent money (as did we) u demand the lowest ping. Riot is a business and the fact is we have a hell of alot more players spending said money so its either move server site and continue alienating 70 percent of players or build another server. they choose the imediate benefit east coast are gonna spend more now. Still i agree that it sucks to be on the receiving end of that i would prob quit. Cant wait to see how long it will be b4 the anouncement of another NA server lol

It's a valid complaint, though. Instead of establishing a new NA East server and allowing for account migrations (like with LAN), they've just put a band-aid on the issue by saying "Ok East Coast players, you get to hold the ball for awhile."

It's not a long-term solution, and it further fractures the player-base because the increase and decrease in performance is disproportional for many. Going from 70-90 MS -> 40-50 MS is by and large an insignificant change, while going from 30-40 MS -> 120-150 MS is much more noticeable.

try more like 120 to 50 that is a hell of a change

It benefited the vast majority of players. Get over it.

What is the actual statistic of players on that had over 100 ping that now have less, as well as people having under 100 to being over 100. I would like to see actual numbers before people say this.

Edit: Another thing is if less people only dropped lets say 10-20 ping, well more people go up 60+ would mess up the overall success of this.

LaceUp231 votes

Simple geography and population density should give you the answer to that question. I'm not even that close to the east coast and my ping dropped by 50-60.

Having NA West/East servers would have been a greater boon to all, and not at all different from establishing the LAN Server. A complaint about poor infrastructure decisions is entirely valid.

I live in Indiana, a day trip away from the New servers.

And I think the way they handled the servers are crap.

There should be a split server for na west and east, and if you que up with a friend on the other coast you get sent to the server where you get the least ping between the two or maybe even a central server .

Myself I live near Vancouver, BC. I was at a nice ping of 23ms. So far before peak hours I was getting 61-63ms and once peak hours hit the ping rose to 70-78. It isn't game breaking but very depressing as for me you just moved further away. I hope there is a future solution for this issue.

The Tears of the west coast players is making me laugh.

They didn't decide to not make a new server because it'd be "difficult". It'd be far easier to do so here in the US than anywhere overseas, where they've done it several times. They even already have the LAN servers in Miami. They wanted to maintain the size of the NA server, the queue times, and the quality of ranked tiers.

Also, this isn't choosing a "favorite" side. This is choosing the majority. Significantly more people have a lower ping than those that have a higher ping. The pacific northwest was sacrificed for the greater good, permanently. If you don't like it, go play DOTA 2.
