What is wrong with the mentality of some players on this game?

Okay, so i'm pretty much at the point on this game where its almost unplayable. About a month and a half ago, there was a moment i lost 20 games in a row, 17 of those loses were from people leaving the game. I don't wanna here the bullshit that "Everyone gets afks". I went from silver 1 promos to gold, to S4. What bothers me the most, going back to the title and talking about mentality. About 4 of those games where a player left the game, we were winning by a significant difference, maybe even 5 mins before closing the game for a victory, because a teammate had to tilt someone on our own team. How mentally weak/ill does someone have to be to spend almost 30 minutes on a game and leave when we are on the brink of winning. I'm ranting about this now due to the fact that i just had an idiot leave the game while winning because he got mad. and what bothers me even more is that my teammates remained unfazed by the fact that we just lost a player, in a winning game, for no reason. My MMR has been completely ruined, my win percentage is completely ruined. The only time i can win games is when my friend gets online who's in gold and i play at his MMR. I cant win solo games, im more likely to run into a game were i have an afk then play a full game 5v5 let alone winning or losing. I keep a positive mindset every game, i talk to my team mates i keep the morale up, i never tilt or int, IVE NEVER LEFT A GAME IN MY 4 YEARS OF LEAGUE OF LEGENDS. I cant climb idk what to do anymore, im not having fun. I take breaks, i take day breaks, week breaks, hour breaks, still i hop online to be handed an L because of someone else. I also dont wanna here the bullshit "Dont blame your losses on your team". Thats the biggest bs ive ever heard. hard to win games with 4/5ths of a team. I specifically have a problem with AFK's and i honestly think im unfortunate enough, to run into more AFK's than the average player BY A LONG SHOT. What can i do, i dont wanna make a new account either, im honestly done with this, ive wasted away days worth of hours because of weak minded/mentally ill/idiotic/childish players. thoughts? not even gunna spell check done with this bs

I've said this for a long time. But Riot needs to do something to stop people from not giving a shit when it gets close to the end of the season. My thought process was actually just to not reset MMR at the end of the season.

I know it's only a soft reset currently, but my thought process is that you should get a hard ranking reset, but 0 MMR reset. The idea here would be that people right now don't care as much about their MMR tanking a bit at the season end, cuz when next season rolls around they are probably going to be pretty far off anyways so w/e. But under my ideal system, lets say you end the season at a certain MMR and then stop playing. When next season rolls around you start playing again...and if you wen 5-5 in your placement matches you would end up almost exactly where you left off last season depending on the exact MMR of your opponents.

Hear me out, your ranking would still hard reset. So if you got unlucky and put into low placements, you would still have high point wins earlier in the season. Allowing you to climb quickly if you deserve it. The only problem with this situation would be that you might hit your ceiling/plateau pretty much immediately in the season. Which to my mind is just fine. I don't mind the idea of having like a 51% win ratio and clawing my way to learning and progress inch by inch over the season.

MMR is not a zero sum system. Soft resets serve to remove excess points and smooth the curve out. Helps keep gaps from forming between identical mmr value accounts at low uncertainty.

I feel like that's why you have a separate ranking and MMR.

Also I don't think I was clear enough in my original response. I guess rather than no MMR reset, I meant the MMR reset happens AFTER you complete your placement matches the following season.

So the incentive to still give 100% effort until the next season starts would be that you affect your stating off point. Your W - L ratio during placement matches next season, are being calculated against your MMR as it stands. Then the reset takes effect AFTER you are placed. That way you can't just be like, "Well this doesn't matter that much...I'll just go hard for the first few weeks next season and get back to this point."

My solution would be that accounts need to play the # of games riot uaes internally for to a reasonably low value for uncertainty to get rewards By split. Last time I saw a figure it ran about 150-300 for accurate placement expectations. So 100 probally is a decent value then 50 per split.

30 is a value that's arbitrarily used in statistics. Not as strong but imo would still be better then 8.

End of the day the incentive should be a personal competition to see how high you can make it but so many folks are babys that they suck joy out of the game. Losses and wins from weak mentality are disappointing for me.

Exactly. You've got to have some sort of incentive/deterrent built into the ranked system itself otherwise people just stop caring at the tail end of the season.

There is no way on Earth your team mates are leaving this often in winning games. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and say that you're one of those hardcore "never surrender" folks. You know, those dudes that watch a scoreline like 4-22 at 17 minutes and think it's still winnable. If this is indeed the case then you need to get real. Some games are just over before it's over and playing it out is a waste of time. If people leave such games it really doesn't make a difference. You would have lost whether or not they stayed.

no, i know when a game is lost. But i have made some pretty insane come backs recently. I wouldnt be that frustrated if it was that bad and someone left. When i tell you the game was won, and people leave. I one time had a top laner DC because i ganked his lane and got the kill, things like that happen to me A LOT AND IDK WHYYY. WHY MEEEEEEEE
