I feel like league becomes more and more of a coin flip game

zed blows··34 votes·12,516 views

Ive been playing League since october 2015 and hit plat 4 (highest ive ever been) couple of months ago and been playing ever since. And tbh, ive had so many bad experiences in this elo. It becomes harder and harder to solo carry a game (to the point where it becomes impossible) since people make less mistakes and late game 1v5 is almost impossible imo. Some poeple are arrogant af, prefer inting over actually paying attention to your adive, prefer loosing over playing the tower hug game.

Ive lost the past 10 games or so because some player on my team makes an insanely bad desicion/feeds/troll/afks whatever. -Udyr min 45 going solo baron, dies, enemy steals, and game over -Teemo top, doing nothing all game, blaming team afterwards -Sivir having no idea about what she does, bad decision making while enemy Jhin is just popping off. (Luck on who gets the better adc)

I can sit here all day giving you examples about what has happend to me. I can win my lane hard, go 5/0, get inhib minute 18, and still loose the game because my team decides to throw hardcore. ( yes, ive had that too) Thats why I feel like league is becoming more and more like a coin flip. You either get the inter, or you dont. I dont think ive had any games recently without a super bad player. Either a 0/13 Kindred on enemy team. or Same kindred on my team. It doesnt matter. It doesnt matter how hard you win your lane. It all depends on whose bot lane (mostly bot ,ive noticed, carries hard since adc is just op in late) is better. I play mid champs like Zed, Ekko, Yasuo and sometimes Veiger.

I feel like im becoming pretty good on my champs on my role but it really doesnt matter.

I jsut cant continue playing league when I know its a coinflip wether I win or loose I know that this is like the most cliche thing you can say, but yes. My teams really loose my games. Not all of them obv. Ive had games every now and then too where I just loose my lane and rely on my team carrying me.. But id say 85%+ of the games I win my lane or give other lanes an adventage.

What is your trick guys to not get tilted while playing this game.. I just cant stand it anylonger

yup, the game is in such a poor state because it doesn't matter how well YOU do anymore. Back in the old days, people would mass make videos about how YOU can improve, and if you can, you can carry yourself out of any elo. But thanks to all the changes that FORCE teamplay, which i get it, you want it to be a team game, but ffs, you as a team are as strong as the weakest link, and in some cases that link is non existant, and that is putting it in the nicest way possible...

They need to allow individual players to be able to make an impact by their actions, and not rely on the entire team to accomplish one task.

I wish they did that.. Be able to get a tower ALONE after you kill somebody ALONE. Not be affraid of either support, top or jungler coming. If they did just that, the game would be so much better. You could actually convert your kills into objectives.

Assuming you chose that name to be flashy and make amazing 1v5 plays, that statement is just plain wrong. If you ARE fed, you shouldn't fear 1v2, but you SHOULD fear 1v3. A support has alot of tools to screw up someone. Don't just go thinking you can 1v2 a support and say, a mage or adc just because you play Zed or you're fed with another champion.

That's because riot has pushed this "everyone is a carry now" so that i can't even push a turret against a lulu or janna anymore if i'm not full tank or atleast darius bruiser tankyness because the lulu or janna just kill a squishy as fast as anybody else.

I also heavily dislike the bounty gold rewards. Sure its a bandaid to the horrible balance that took place over the years but it just punishes good players way too hard. You go 2/0 in lane, the enemy jungle comes and let's be realistic nowadays with all the dmg and CC you can barely 1v2 anymore and gets your opponent a kill and he gets shutdown gold, kill gold and catch up xp and suddenly he is ahead of you despite you destroying him the last 10 minutes. There is so many more things wrong with this game but i just gave up. I'm sick and tired of this shit. Up until half of s7 i was like "yeah you can carry MOSt of your games" and ever since the retarded ardent meta it feels more and more impossible to win games and just as you i experience dozens of games in a row as a pure coinflip.

It's kinda funny seeing Yassuo struggling hard in plat 1/2 euw as a challenger player. Sure he probably doesn't full tryhard right now and gets streamsniped and shit but a challenger in plat is like me playing in silver or bronze. i win games with eyes closed. Less and less streamer and high elo players even try to make these x to y streams anymore. I wouldnt either. Every challenger i ran into in my diamond games is duo because solo there is pretty much nothing you can do.

Yeah its easier to feed and feeding is more powerful than ever due to the explosive dmg.

Plus trolls are in control of games as they aren't punished- and riot doesn't really have a way to actually control this yet. Plus matchmaking itself is terrrrible... muchless so many other things.

Its the explosion after a season and a half of shit.

There is no trick to not getting tilted, the only thing that comes close is to play something else, The games are decided within 8 minutes now. It's nothing but burst carries and percent hp damage along with the constant every game "gg ez". The games are always one sided snowballs, and even if you win it feels like you didn't win because you just happen to "roll" the better players or champions that game. If you win or lose, you just don't get the feeling you used to get with this game.

This. What is even worse, is that they don't care (November ---> AUGUST) and they intentionally keep their own game in this awful state.

That's one of the biggest gripes i have with his game right now. More often than not i see myself thinking: yeah they got zoe, noc/kindred/graves, some other busted piece of shit champion so we cant win we only have b tier champs. There was a time you could carry to challenger with full AP zed if you played it well. Meta is nowadays so retardedly broken and overpowered that i can't even win lane against way worse players who happen to have the better champion it is ridiculous and makes the game so frustrating.

Exactly this. Skill is not of the essence anymore. I could give you dozens of the same examples.

This is why I started playing so much on my smurf account, where I just play casually and have fun. Improving is just not worth it anymore. And I suspect that this is exactly the casual experience Riot aims at.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

And i can also guarantee you this is the reason why overwatch and hots didn't blow off. Noone likes being dependend on random monkeys and people barely have 5 friends to play every game with.

LEague was at its PEAK when you could 1v9 steamroll every game. Now its the same "team game" as all the others and everyone competitive hates it. Sure if riot only wants the urf/aram/ 4fun4 community so be it but no game ever survived by focusing on casuals.

Every game i played so far that was multiplayer and challenging died the moment it became heavily casualized: League, CoD, Swtor, WoW (which isnt really dead nowadays but yeah) and many more i cant even remember because its 7:30 and i havent slept yet.

I've been experiencing the same things you had. I lost my last 3 ranked games either because of a troll ( e.g. TwistedFate summoner 11 , a first time Akali ), someone playing a champion that the team needs but he/she isn't decent at ( e.g. Malphite summoner 12 ), or just being too damn negative on other teammates rather than bringing in some positivity and trying to find ways to make a comeback ( e.g a toxic Graves summoner 11 ). I'll admit, I am by no means a good player myself but at the very least I can say that I'm not shit enough to do any of these dumb things. It's also due to these factors that I'm not enjoying league as much as I used to. Like why would I if the outcome of every game is based on a coin flip, it just doesn't make any sense. In my opinion, I can actually see this game dying in the near future if riot doesn't do anything about it. I mean I've already seen a few of my friends play other games e.g. fortnite more frequently or doing different things like watching anime. Even though they haven't completely moved on from league, I can still see that happening. It's a sign. Either riot does something to improve player's experience or this game will cease to exist only in a matter of time.

3 games?

I think its been over 17 meanwhile.. Dropped to g1 0LP. Loosing will in living. Flaming non stop. Im so toxic. I cant stand these teams. Riot makes me this way

Project9Haiti1 votes

What i meant by 3 games is that I lost 3 games in a row but if you want the total, here's the stats:

Total Ranked Games Played: 25 Total Wins: 11 Total Loss: 14

I dont blame you for feeling that way. But unless riot improves our rank experience by reducing the number of trolls and whateves, I suggest we both stop playing rank in the meantime. If that will ever happen that is.

xXDaBoozeXx1 votes

The problem with this is that players whined about one person being able to get fed and snowball carry everyone alone

In response riot did all these shutdown changes making them give more gold and avaliable at only 2 kill streak.

Now you want solo carry back, and when its back people will whine again and they will nerf it. People whine about game times, this would not help it by any means.

3TWarrior1 votes

I thought it was that they complained that some champions were too easy to snowball as soon as they got the right amount of gold?

yi, katarina, any marksman, etc

the games would stall out and then they would use the power that normally requires good play to start steam-rolling

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

*low elo players/bad players complained about it.

That's why this game sucks so hard because riot has casualized this game so hard when it used to be perfectly balanced between easy to pick up and hard to master.

People also didnt whine about solo carry people whined about snowball but as it is most people are dumb as shit and don't realize that the snowball has nothing to do with one person being fed and 1v9ing every game. The snowball is a combination of the game streamlined into one single way to win and global snowball mechanics. It's all about the 5v5 deathball and roam roam roam. There is only one way to win. Champs are so heavily imbalanced that meta champs getting slightly ahead just steamroll the game.

I would love to go back to one person 1v9ing every single game. That would mean i can ACTUALLY solo carry a game. Solo carry nowadays means not playing my lane and trying to roam everywhere to get my team ahead and pray to fuckin god the matchmaking was on my side so they don't throw the huge lead i gave them.

The game depends on which jungler is better.

That is why you can be a better player than your enemy laner but if their jungler is better than yours he will carry because they amount of agency Junglers have at every stage of the game is retarded.

I wish that were true. When your lanes are losing, and still die after you gank and ofcourse you can't always secure ganks at the same rate as people die in lane if they are dying in lane, and the enemy jungler just does absolutely nothing and farms and then shows up mid game and becomes a beast for doing absolutely nothing, it's not a good feeling.

They are also farming or stealing jungle while you cover dead lanes.

Leonerdo1 votes

You don't win the game by winning lane. You win by getting objectives. And for that you need to play well in the mid-game, and use your advantages without overstepping. You need to be able to pressure the map constantly or win teamfights consistently, without getting caught or forcing bad plays.

And yes, you need to work with your team. Don't tell them what to do constantly, but use your pings, call for help, and be aware of the plays they are trying to make as well.

And even when you're doing all that correctly, you should still lose 45% of your games. That doesn't matter, though. Focus on your contributions and your rank. That's all that matters in the long-run if you're playing solo.

Your team will be different every game, and there's very little you can do to control them aside from pings, so try to work with them/around them, but never ever think that you can change them or entertain thoughts about what you could do with better teammates. It's not realistic and it's not helpful to think that you're teammates will meet every expectation. Expect mistakes, and learn to make the best of a bad situation.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

And this is why this game fuckin sucks and so many people quit the game. Noone wants to play the same game every game with nothing inbetween: Win lane--->roam--->get objective--->pray your team isnt retarded.

Laning phase of 5 minutes---->group--->aram and 5v5 deathball all the time.

It's boring and it sucks as hell.

Leonerdo1 votes

If you think the game is the same every time, then you are not paying enough attention.

Even if it was, my point stands. Like you said, it's "Win lane--->roam--->get objective--->[work with your team]", not win lane-->win game. Whether you think that's boring or not, is a tangential point at best.

prefer loosing over playing the tower hug game.

Riot has been making this impossible for seasons. They don't want towers to be a safe haven.

Ive lost the past 10 games or so because some player on my team makes an insanely bad desicion/feeds/troll/afks whatever.

Thats pretty common in higher MMR's because games are extremely lopsided. Champion pick is often more important than skill so one death is lane over.

I feel like im becoming pretty good on my champs on my role but it really doesnt matter.

Again, champion pick > skill

What is your trick guys to not get tilted while playing this game.. I just cant stand it anylonger

Legit /mute all and then if you are the feeder just keep feeding, if you aren't just wait till next game.

I think the biggest reason it's a coin flip is people giving up. I honestly think it's more in people's heads than anywhere else. So many of my games ~ diamond 5 people are giving up so fucking easy. They call for a surrender vote after a team fight that leaves us down maybe 1 kill. Like what the fuck. Play till the nexus explodes people. It aint over till the defeat sign is on your screen.

This. It's bad enough that one person can lose the game, but one person can't carry the game anymore. So don't be that guy that gives up so easily and loses the game for everyone. After all, it is a team game. Even if you're losing your lane (whether it's because you got counter picked or you couldn't get your normal champ so your playing one you're not as familiar with) the game can still be won if you don't give up and keep playing your best. Don't quit trying after the first lost team fight. Your team might have the better scaling champs. It's not over until you actually lose or until you give up. So don't make it easy for the enemy. You might just make a comeback.

And why do u think people are giving up? Maybe they've played those games many times before and they tried not giving up but it just resulted in even more lopsided games. People aren't simply idiots who give up for no reason. They give up because they've learned it's better to do so than hope for that 1/20 game where they might actually turn it around.

youre right thank go this post is showing up. Its a huge coin flip you can do sooo good one game and the other but still somehow lose. You can have agiant winning streak and sooner or later that will equal out in loses thats why not one has huge win ratios lol. Everyone is at around 50-58% maybe not even... Its sad how bad ranked is.

Targon1 votes

The game feels like a coin flip because there are so many factors which make it a coin flip.

The game would be in a better state if near 100% of games you played were evenly matched rather than what it is now: hard stomping 50% of the time, and being hard stomped 50% of the time.

Ulquiorra01231 votes

I dunno dude, on one hand I feel like if I play well I generally win aside from Duo Queue where games are just impossibly stacked against a duo. But when I solo queue I generally go in with the understanding that there is a 75% chance I will win the game. I've done a few experiments on this account this season, one was to abuse the MMR system, in which it actually worked into silver 1, and then I started to spam Swain and went on an 11 loss streak hahaha.

The other thing I've done is playing for fun vs playing seriously. When I play seriously there is an 80% chance I win the game as long as the game is not 0-6 in 5 minutes. But here is the problem with this, it isn't fun just hardcarrying games. When I play for fun, entirely different story. These games can go either way as a coin flip and it just completely depends on which team has the 4 retards as Dunkey says. This is exactly how it should be though, if you are playing seriously you should have control over whether you win, which I very much do regardless of teammates. If you aren't playing seriously and trying to win, and I don't mean going into the game with the mindset of winning, I mean picking your best champion and keeping 100% focused on the game. This is something I literally have not seen in a player this season. Everyone is in "for fun" mode. Now this is fine, I don't really care, but do not complain about the game if you are not going to take it seriously enough to win.

In final, I feel like if you are truly better than your opponents, you have an easy ability to carry games, the majority of games that aren't able to be carried, is because one of the opposing 5 is just better than you. Again I am ruling out Duo Queue here as those games are stacked insanely against the duo. What I would like to see is damage just be nerfed in the game, and on top of that actually have a proactive stance against problem champions. I think this season is actually fine aside from people just not taking the game seriously while also being super negative. Game is not a coin flip, just be better than the enemy team...
