I have a notion about the direction that's being taken

I feel like Assassin champions are becoming a dying breed, Fizz's recent changes made him lean towards becoming a bruiser-styled kit rather than a Burst AP, Akali had a portion of her burst cut, although systematically remained the same(But let's face it, she needed something done), LB has had her ult's AP Scaling reduced to cut back on her output. There's a long list of changes for less output, but few and far between are alterations where they receive a buff or tweak to improve their target-deletion as it states in their contract(Take care of this girl over hereAshe). Assassins like Kha'Zix and Rengar are below tanks because their utility is lower, AS WELL as their damage, they lack the early base stats and instead compensate by having slightly better scaling into late game for their damage only if you decide to build them that way.

Bruisers and Tanks are the meta, and I feel riot is embracing that, and in that respect is neglecting the other side of the coin by leaving it face down on the discussion table.

Thoughts? Comments? This is my two cents, but I definitely believe the assassins are on the decline and back into hiding.

I think the trend is to diversify the game.

There are still quite a bit of viable assassins in game.

I think what Riot did was ton down the dominance of those Assassins to allow other champions to surface as force to be reckoned with.

Lets not forget the still very viable assassins:

A reiteration: I don't believe assassins are not viable, I just seem to think they're being neglected in the focus for the Jungle and Tank/Bruiser Meta as well as Bruisers doing the exact same thing while having more sustainability (LeeSin is actually a bruiser btw) due to having reliable early ability base-stats.
