Shaco is in a Horrible spot compared to how he used to be!
As a Shaco main I believe that the rework has made him worse than before game play wise. His win rate is better now, but that is only based on how broken runes and items are. Not because of the champion. Also to note, I do not play AP Shaco top so this is mostly a discussion on jungle shaco

Shaco started off season 7 way over the top, he was reworked with crazy damage numbers and ratios. His q had big scaling damage that goes off instantly after stealth as well as a guaranteed crit on top of the bonus damage, on top of this pink wards revealing him were taken out making his stealth un-counterable without red trinket up. His E was designed to execute targets (% missing HP) but ended up being an insane objective control tool making him impossible to out smite minus chogath+smite or nunu+smite. And his ult losing burst damage to a Pink ward MEME the illuminati triangle, which feels gimmicky personally.
Now Shaco is left with 0 damage on his q with the ap portion of the damage missing being put onto his passive, his CRIT PASSIVE. Feels like it was only put on to keep ap Shaco players happy. His E reverted to how it was before, with less base damage, changed to physical damage, and a laughable bonus to missing health damage only enforces that you can use E for one purpose only. It does so little damage, and you can't even level it up early before putting points into stealth just to get that ability to be even slightly useful towards ganking and juking.

Riots goal for Shaco was to make him less oppressive early game, but he is still early game reliant. If he cannot get an item/xp lead within the first 10 minutes of the game, he feels worthless (and is 90% of the time).Shaco HAS to put levels into stealth or he has a useless ability early game, but by being forced to do this his E is left useless until level 7/8 which early game is over by then. I believe he is too item/mastery reliant, just to do damage your items/masteries all HAVE to provide an on-hit bonus. Red smite, Statikk, Duskblade etc. Now post rework and after a season of him being reworked, his gameplay is still early game focused as before but with less damage.
If Riot didn't want Shaco to be early game focused, why is he a single target champion that has a hard time farming. Assassins are supposed to get ahead in game and punish mistakes and snowball. Assassins aren't supposed wait to be super strong until late game, that's what carries do, and in lategame they do it better. My impact shouldn't be delayed. If lategame comes the only way Shaco can get an assassination is if the enemy is 50% hp or a champion with no mobility. It's extremely frustrating to see someone out of position and have to hope they misplay so i can kill them because my mobility is the only thing i can use to reliably engage upon them.
I honestly think putting Shaco back into how he was pre-rework, and toning down his damage + early game stealth time would be fine to keep him viable and tuned correctly. His old version I believe was more fun for both AP and AD Shaco players. His old passive helped both ap and ad players with all damage no matter what. His old Q added a mini-crit so crit players can't do insane damage with lucky damage right out of stealth but still leaving burst there. His E was a Magic damage ability with good base damage that could be used in all situations, poke, engage, execute, not JUST executing targets. Lastly his ult just needed to be bugfixed, and it is mostly bugfixed now.
TL:DR: I think shaco's rework changed his gameplay too drastically and believe that he only needed slight changes and most of the changes need to be reverted

anymore.) So In order to do any damage, you need Duskblade to help with your physical damage no matter how much AP you have. Thats why a lot of AP players are converting to AP Lethality taking AP items, lichbane, and Duskblade for the lethality to help with backstab and E.
