I still don't fkn get the ranked system, like this season = Wins 6 games, loses 4, and I get placed in bronze 5? Riot? Hello? That's the worst rank I've gotten into, last season I won 2 games and lost 8 and got into b1, what the hell is going on? I'm pissed af about this (lmao bronze scrub) but still.
Placements are a stupid system. You play 10 games and are GUARANTEED to place lower than last season. So why even bother trying, especially true for anyone under Silver.

Or if you got the nerves of steel play on your current one.
They place you lower so you can climb. If they just placed you back, you'd immediately stagnate and that turns people off.
