Level 30 plus playing in bot games with new players?

Hi, everyone :) I'm new to this game and enjoying myself mostly. As with all new games to a player, at first the mechanics are hard. Oh well that's gaming life. So I started playing in the bot games and notices high level player playing in the beginners level bot games. Why would someone high level play a game against bot with players just starting the game?

Hello, friend. Welcome to the league! As someone who plays bots regularly myself, let me enlighten you.

People play bots for a variety of reasons. The most obvious one is to practice the game, but people also play them for:

*Learning new champions or roles. Bot games are great for people who don't feel comfortable going against others with a particular champion or position. I myself am learning to jungle with Vi and Shyvana, and am not confident enough in my skills to take the role in a real game.

*Trying out new item builds. Again, because of lack of comfort doing it in a real game. If the build works, awesome. If not, you learned how NOT to play this champion. The game mode is insanely relaxed and your team mates don't care. It's perfect for experimenting.

*They're quick. In bots you can go the entire game without killing one jungle monster. People don't care as much about dragon or baron, the pressure is all on the lanes. In PVP you've got people everywhere watching your moves and trying to outplay you. All the bots can do is spam abilities and buy items. They're intelligent, but there's no real strategy.

*The first win of the day bonus. People turn to bots because winning is much easier than winning a PVP game. They can play their one game and be done if they so wish.

One last thing I do want to mention. Experienced players can, of course, play intro/beginner bots if they want. HOWEVER, it's not smart to do if you're playing for for the IP. Riot purposely makes the IP earn ridiculously low if you're higher level playing intro/beginner. Be aware of your level and Riot's policies regarding this so you can get the most from your first win bonus.

Good luck on the Fields of Justice!

Some people play with their new friends. I got my girlfriend into League, and she's extremely bad at the game. I play bots with her and I support her to try and teach her mechanics with farming, what items to buy, and when to go in / back off. Now, I never play carry roles in these games, and I don't see the point in bot games beyond helping out a newbie friend if you're level 30.

That being said, when I first started playing League, I played bot games ONLY until I was about level 25 because I was scared of facing real people. ;)

Quick and easy first win of the day bonus, helping their friends, or just a way to relax and play any champ and do whatever you wanted since it's a bot match.

I do it cause i'm garbage as fuck and need to do a bot match before I take a champ into normals. That or whenever I need like 10 IP because bot matches are quicker.

Thank everyone for the replies. HausOfFortune I was thinking the same things: Learning new champions or roles/Trying out new item builds/The first win of the day bonus, but it didn't make sense to do it in intro/beginner. Any how, I guess I will have to put up with them finishing a game in 14 mins before I can buy 2 items every third game or so. Can't stop them. Wish they would play Intermediated. I'm not too salty or anything just a little annoyed. I guess I could just do custom games by myself to practice mechanics, like last hitting and skillshots. Thanks again guys.

I play them for a couple reasons.

  1. First win like others said.
  2. When I go on a HORRIBLE losing streak and I feel like demolishing some AI :D

I play them to experiment with champions.
