Elise needs a buff!!!

Back in season 3/4 Elise was a very frequent picked and a very top tier jungler. She was one of my favorites, but she was "overpowered", and needed a slight nerf. But I think you did it a little to hard, because she's never played anymore. Like ever. I want to see her back in the tank jungle meta that is now in season 5. Riot please give Elise a buff to let her see play in this season, because she is one of my favorites =D

for some reason when you say this... it actually rang a bell for me... If elise's Q does damage based on %HP... why not buff that part of her kit? It would actually make her a good counter pick vs tanky junglers..

I think the problem with that is her % HP damages are already quite strong - her Qs burst very well as is. You'd be better off buffing the more underpowered portion of her kit, for example her AP empowered basic attacks, rather than loading all of her power into her Qs.

I agree to an extent.. however then you run into the "shes op because she has no weakness"

Thing is, a weakness should be something that ISN'T in a champ's kit. A weakness shouldn't be "the champion has a couple of useless abilities", because that just makes them unsatisfying to play.

Heck, one of the problems Elise has right now is that she basically exists just to use Cocoon. It's not fun to have a bunch of abilities not worth using.

First you say her Q burst is good, now you are saying shes only useful for her cocoon.. im slightly confused xD

Sorry, I can be unclear :P

Right now her main use is her Cocoon, so she's really unsatisfying because it's her #1 thing to offer. But her Q burst isn't BAD, it just falls off awfully because of other problems in her kit that mean she can't build AP to scale her Qs. If you buff her Qs so that AP is really good on Elise, you'll end up with very very powerful Qs and Cocoon, but still nothing else really :(

That's why I'd prefer to buff other areas. If you buff her other damage so that she can build AP, her Qs get better by default and she has a much more rounded kit.

I think her Human W needs a buff, maybe the spider moves faster and scales better with AP cuz 80% isnt that good for her kit.

The AP scaling is 80%. That's pretty high.

Dreadlocks1 votes

Not high enough for her kit... it still doesn't yield an AP build.. the only AP item i see elise build in the jungle is item 3151

Rıots Bad Client2 votes

let her use summoner 4 or item 3157 during her rappel. This is to strengthen her great kit for ganking.

LankPants2 votes

How would using hourglass in rappel ever be useful? You'd just be wasting time on both.

Rıots Bad Client1 votes

It could be really useful, its much like fizz. Just buying time itself is really good. that or if you stall enough time for a passing minion wave, camp spawn, scuttle crab to come by or just wait for other cd's to come off.

Honnestly I think what's wrong with Elise is that she's played differently that riot intended. It's time that riot finaly decide what direction they want to go with her. I believe Khazix is still the same story.

The build I want to see on elise is that she builds 2 AP items (item 3708, item 3151 item 3116, item 3027) and than go full Tank. Similar to Lee Sin but than AP. Her goal should be early power but that's just what riot keeps nerfing. She needs a rework:

  • Less Hidden Steriodes
  • More CC (maybe a slow on her spider form on her Q or W)
  • More scaling on her tankness

I really want to see elise as the AP counterpart of Lee Sin.

I would hate to see her turned back into a low damage off-tank; that is exactly the build type I don't want to see. I would like to see her go mostly damage but with some durability (things like Abyssal and Zhonya's, 2 more damage choices and 2 more defense choices). Basically I just want better offensive scaling on her.

CoolKnightST1 votes

The problem with that is that you almost have to remove the percentage health damage. You really don't want to change her into an Swain with that mobility.

Baron of Bread3 votes

As someone who plays both of them, I don't see how giving her better offensive scaling would make her similar to Swain.

You don't have near the same in fight sustain as Elise (style or amount) and it is still highly dependent on your spiderlings. You are also mostly burst based, while Swain uses a lot of DoT. Swain also has no percent of health damage.

As far as the percentage health damage goes, I don't think that needs to be removed. In fact, I think the scaling on it should be increased but the base damage needs to be decreased to properly reward someone for building damage and not just penetration and tank.

And what if whe give her Spider Form Health & her regular form Ability Power. It would make her more diverse again but he power curves get shifted depending on what form she's in.

I don't understand how that'd work out. You'd poke people down with human form and then swap into spider form to... assassinate them as a tank? She's meant to combo her forms, your change would destroy that because swapping forms would completely change what she's trying to do.

Swain is always going to be harder to kill than Elise with even items. His regen is just insane. He also brings AOE damage to a fight whist still maintaning very strong focused damage which is something that Elise can't do.

I too agree that Elise could use some health. However, if Riot buffs her damage, even maybe just a little, she will become too OP again and probably nerfed back to where she is. Same thing with Evelynn. Riot needs to decide whether they want her as a tank or bruiser or assassin and work from there. I think her CC could use buffs over her damage to get her to a healthier place.

There is really nothing to suggest that buffing her damage will make her too strong. Elise has only ever had the base damages on her Qs nerfed, so there are a ton of places you can buff her damage without just reverting old nerfs. Buff the scaling on Volatile Spiderling, buff the scaling on her spider form basic attacks, even buff the AP scaling on her Qs. There is no logical reason to think doing anything other than reverting previous nerfs would make her unhealthy.

it's possible to buff the damage on champions without just increasing their base values.

Primadonna1 votes

All I said was Riot will intend to be careful with buffing her damage, no matter how it is done or where it need be. Any buff to damage could make her oppressive again. Riot just needs to experiment with her and find the role they want Elise to fill on a team and go from there. She needs an identity first, she's kind of this mage/off-tank thing right now that many people aren't sure how to build.

She is fine, just hard to play.

Very slight buffs can be good, but she doesn't need to be in an overwhelming state again.

But even some of the best players in the world have said she's not good enough. If she's fine but hard to play then how can Cloud 9's Meteos, who played a LOT of Elise, say she's not viable?

She's consistently had one of the game's very worst win rates for months now and she hasn't been seen in competitive play (where skillful champions shine) either. She's underpowered no matter where you look.

There are four jungle items and four jungle enchants. Skirmisher's is mainly taken by lane tanks ATM and Poacher's, Magus, and Devourer are hardly ever used at all (which is bad for the junglers that should fit well with them).

If they're deliberately holding off on changes to Elise until they work on those items (especially Magus), then that is a reasonable approach. If they don't plan to do anything further with jungle itemization at this time, then yeah, they should probably look at her.

The question is how long are they going to make us poor Elise Mains wait for something to happen? A whole season? The problem exists since preseason 5, and even at the end of s4 things weren't looking rosy for Elise. Buffs have been demanded since forever, and what she received so far was an increase to the missle speed of her human E. Wow. Mind-blowing.

After buff

ELISE NEEDS A NERF

Old Man Teeto1 votes

Elise needs Spirit Stone to return. My continued suggestion is to put that passive onto the AP jungle item.

Elise's itemization for the jungle is weak currently, since the tank item and AD item are the stronger variants and she uses both poorly.

Fix her itemization, then see if her kit needs anything.

Personally, this is what I would do for buffs:

Q: AP scaling does not apply to max % health cap on monsters Human Form: Mana cost reduced to 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 from 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 W: Now avoids unit collision (with minions only) for the 1st second or until the spider reaches spawned destination, whichever is sooner. W Passive: spiderling bonus attack speed increased to: 7.5 / 15 / 22.5 / 30 / 37.5 / 45% from 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25% E: Can rappel to allies R: CD reduced to 4/3.5/3/2.5 from 4/4/4/4

Spiderlings: attack damage increased to +15% AP (from 10%)

Her damage isn't bad if she builds AP. I personally don't think she needs a direct damage buff. Her spiderlings and other parts of her kits can use some buffs.
