My OPINION on ELO Hell.

So today I was browsing boards and I saw a post to the following effect;

"Why do low elo players constantly complain about op champs, when they cant even climb themselves by maining said op champ?"

This is the ELO Hell concept people talk about. While you (someone) say it doesn't exist, perhaps you are thinking of it in the wrong way. Put an "ELOHELL noob" onto a gold/plat account that is locked there (they can loose 9001 games and still be matched with plats) for a couple of weeks, then they will improve dramatically - possibly enough so to climb at least a league (silver 3-gold3, for example).

The reason behind this is because all these "noob" people see are mistakes.

"I get by fine with locked camera, why should I change? I still win loads of games! It can't improve me THAT much" etc..

If they are put in a position where they are punished for making mistakes, and will have to rely on farming, and punishing others, then they will learn to do that. Down in bronze/silver they aren't punished, and the enemies are as stupid as they are, so there doesn't seem to be any obvious way to learn to play against harder enemies. As soon as they play against someone that is clearly a "plat smurf" for a game, they just get rekt, and they put the reason down to the fault of the enemy being freakishly good. I'm not sure if you can tell what I mean, but whatever. Have a picture of Lux for reading this far.

I've seen, and experienced this myself. At the start of season 4 I was placed in bronze 5. This was partly down to crappy season 3 (I was a noob, dont hate) and even crappier placement games (1-9). But that's no excuse. I played quite a bit, got to bronze 2, then had an unlucky streak and went waaayy back down. I'm not gonna jump out and claim I was in elo hell, but I was in elo hell. Wanna know how I know? I "made" a new account, "I" got it to level 30, and started playing some ranked games. I won 5, lost 5. This placed my into silver 2.

"Oh, big deal, you only played 10 games, you probably got carried. That doesn't make you a silver 2 player".

Hmm, really? Maybe I was for some games, but that's irrelevant. I played over 200 ranked games on my bronze account, still bronze 5. I played almost 500 on my other account, and climbed to Gold 2. After those 500 games of playing against high gold players, I could go back to my first account and win over 50% of my games, but before making another account, there was no hope.

Anyway, I just felt I should post this because I've been thinking about it for ages, and yea.

The moon looks really big tonight, weird. Unrelated, ik, but I just looked out of my window and wow, it's pretty big. Thanks Diana!

Thanks for reading.
