Can someone explain why they are getting rid of DFG AND Ahri's Charm damage amplification?

I really enjoy playing Ahri and I understand that her kit is more about the mobility, but landing charm has always been so crucial to successfully trade. Now they take that away, and what are you supposed to do? Run out of mana in 4 minutes from trying to just poke with Q since Charm isn't really necessary anymore? It's still good CC, but if they're going to get rid of the damage amp, why are they removing DFG too?

I'm just trying to understand why these changes are being made. Thanks guys. Any tips for how new Ahri will be more successful are appreciated.

They want her to be a mage instead of an assassin. I'm pretty upset myself, but it won't stop me from playing her.

I expect if they follow through with the changes then the idea will be to poke constantly with your Q and wait for an opportunity to go in hard. You use the movespeed on your Q to position for a charm + W. With the movespeed it will be a lot easier to land charms without using your ult which you can then save for chasing the target down or escaping afterwards.

Unfortunately I don't think she will have enough single target damage to kill anyone outright now. Not to say she can't get fed, it just won't be awfully scary to encounter her in the river anymore.

You still win a trade if you land charm.

Because they are buffing some of her other damage and ahri has healthy play styles that are not based around E > DFG > W > Q with her ult thrown in where ever and killing someone like that.

I actually agree with the changes and while not an ahri main I can see her still be worth playing given that she has some clearly defined strengths.
