New to Nidalee - is it possible to survive jungle without a leash at the start?

So, I recently picked up playing Nidalee. I've mainly played Zac for jungle, so it's quite the change- especially since I often do blind/non-rated, as I don't have much interest in the super competitive side of the game. That being said, it feels nearly impossible for me even when kiting jungle to not have to back after the first one or two packs without a leash. Both red buff and blue buff wreck Nidalee's health with a slow start and it feels like I have a natural handicap if I dont have someone helping me with that first pull, which rarely happens in blind even when requested. Is there something I can do to make the first few pulls a bit less rough?

Most junglers should, just in case, but Nidalee is a high skill cap champ, so it may be recommended to have a leash for your first games until you understand how to play her. Playing against Bots or training may also help, since you can learn and train what strategies and techniques would best optimize initial clears without threats of invades. Guides, like those found on Youtube, could help form the needed basis as well.

I've been practicing on her a decent amount the last few days- I've gotten a lot of the kiting down, but most games I go in people just refuse to leash. And the moment I'm stuck having to solo that first guy I end up around half health by the end, even when kiting well from what I can tell. By that point taking raptors or wolves is a risk, and taking the other buff is near impossible without backing. It sucks, but I can't really figure out a way around it if people aren't willing to leash. : <

Might as well go with those high sustain junglers: Warwick Fiddlesticks MasterYi Nunu Shyvana are some I know with decent HP sustain... But overall, jungle is more or less a meme role of "Riot can't fix the problem even if we tell them" type.

I mean, if I wanted to go back to a good jungler I'd just hop back onto Zac- never have trouble on him and can solo dragon by the time it spawns, it's just i really want to get into Nidalee. I like her style, it just feels impossible to play her against any other jungler who doesn't have to back after first buff. : <

Which I would be alright with if Nidalee had a backup role but- it feels like she really doesn't have an effective one. Her heal nudges her towards support but the rest of her kit doesnt really fit it, and I feel like she doesn't fit too well as the others.

Yeah, I know that feeling -_- No idea how to help you any further than this, though. Sorry.
