Champions with High Comeback Potential

Everyone’s been there. Some lane gets a bad match-up and it’s just one of those days, dying repeatedly to some roaming assassin champion that proceeds to go assist all the other lanes on his team and creates an avalanche.

Once these snowballs get going, they’re challenging to stop.

My question is: Which champions have high or reliable comeback potentials for not just their lane, but for the match. The ability to play at disadvantage or recover quickly from a bad early or mid game.

Name a champion and please provide a reason as to why their kit allows them to ignore snowball situations more than others.

Kat. You get killed in lane but then you just roam bot for a double. Once you complete an item you'll pretty much completely shred anyone not stacking MR.

Darius Even if your lane opponent got a kill early on, the dueling potential of Darius is so good, that in most cases, it doesnt matter. Your opponent makes one mistake, and then you have an easy kill on your hands, and then you can snowball yourself, which sooner or later will have an impact on the game as a whole.

Well. Some champions like Irelia, can get shat on in lane and still go from 0/2/0 to 5/2/1 after her Triforce is completed. Basically, anyone with an assassin type playstyle can do this by picking people off and roaming after they hit their powerspike.

Then there are long range poke champions that can turn on really hard and help your team siege down mid lane and amass a lot of gold for their team once they start getting enough damage to chunk the enemy team off of a tower. One thinks of Xerath Ziggs KogMaw.

But there are other champions that just make a big impact in a teamfight and can come back in a way by assisting the team win the teamfight. Examples of this are: Annie Lulu Orianna.

These are some examples of "coming back" in different ways. Usually, champions who "come back" are midgame focused champions who unlock a lot of power with their Ult or with a major item purchase to reach a powerspike which they can capitalize on. But champions with a lot of Utility can come back in a different way by using the power they can give to the team rather than hording their power to themself and trying to solo carry the game.

I've been playing a lot of Riven top lately. She seems very capable of shaking off one death, sometimes two or three depending on the match up. Stacking item 1055 and item 1036 when behind I've found particularly effective with her. Overall, just pumping AD items (sometimes skipping boots to do so) keeps her a threat because every ability scales with AD. The problem when behind though is surviving team fights. Her shield can mitigate initiation damage and help in 1v1s, but against a snowballing team with no defensive item, she gets melted if not very careful.

Depends on what lane and what position. A Hyper Carry has massive come back potential as long as you can stall out the game. But if the enemy snowballer is a hyper carry, your pretty much dead in the water.

If you want to survive the late game, You need the ability to team fight. Fight over towers, Fight over Barons, But that's for the most part what it will boil down too.

I might recommend Rumble. Though he's not a hyper carry, he excels in a team fight if you can land a good ult. And he's hard to shut down because he requires very few items. (Just Sorc shoes and liandry's really)

Have you hit level six and built a gunblade? If you answered yes even if you fed 4 kills. You can still get fed if you're Akali ! :D I love playing akali lol but shes hard to shut down.

Anivia Anivia: -> passive helps prevent giving the snowballer extra kills -> lots of crowd control and high base damages makes her viable when behind -> good at stalling out games with her wave clear to help late game champs get to a powerspike such as: - Tristana - Vayne - Nasus - Tryndamere - Jax - Karthus - Kale - etc.
