Taliyah's problems

So I think we can all agree Taliyah is in need of some buffs, whether you think she only needs slight changes or big buffs. I just wanted to give my thoughts on her current state.

Passive - Rock Surfing

As of now, it's pretty useless. At max level it's like having mobility boots that only work near walls. It looks and feels cool, but has little actual uses. With just one little change I think it could be really cool though. Instead of the passive only working when out of combat, it should work when not taking damage. That would mean that Taliyah could attack and still have her passive up as long as she herself is not injured, and of course minion damage should not bring her out of her passive either. Maybe 5-10% increased movement speed as well, not sure about that.

Q - Threaded Volley

Taliyah's bread and butter, I think it's perfectly fine. I've learned to work with the worked ground and use the single Q's for farming and small amounts of poke. I do wonder if having the Q cooldown also reduced by half instead of just the mana cost would help though, not sure if that would make it too good though.

W - Seismic Shove

Good ability, feels a bit unresponsive though. The delay makes it hard to a lot of the time if the target is not already slowed or cc'ed in some way. I wish it was like a click and drag ability like Viktor's Laser beam. click and drag in a target direction and then it activates instantly. People never use the knockup on the ability anyways, it is usually of better use to drag them towards you or away from you in nearly every situation.

_E - Unravelled Earth _

Great ability, no complaints. With a more responsive W I feel like this ability would be much better without any need of buffs.

R - Weaver's Wall

This is in need of major changes. As it stands? Useless. You have an ultimate which provides absolutely no damage, has a gigantic cooldown, can just as easily screw your team as it does the enemy, has low range, requires perfect positioning, can't even be used as an escape, and nearly every champion in the game can get out of it. I'm not sure how this ability made it into the game in its current state. If you compare it to a similar ability, Twisted Fate's ultimate, it is worse in nearly every way. Both are used to gank lanes and show up at unexpected times, Twisted Fate gets there nearly instantly however, provides vision of the entire enemy team, has a much longer range until max rank where Taliyah barely gets above his, enemies can't get out of it by using a dash, and it can't screw your team. You could fix this ability easily though.

  1. Make it impassable, no dashes, no flashes. You get stuck behind it and you're screwed.

  2. OR, longer base range but same final range, and shorter cooldown by say 20 seconds per rank.

Final Thoughts

Taliyah's problems are a lack of escapes, a useless ultimate, and a tad bit of unresponsiveness. I feel as though if you start with these changes and then see how she goes from there it would help her out a lot.

I strongly disagree with OP's take on ult. I feel like it's one of the best parts of Taliyah's kit. Yes, cooldown is long, but it can be awesome if done right (or hurt your team if done wrong, but that's up to player's skill, not the kit). I do feel Taliyah needs some form of buff, either for her safety or for damage, but I like feel of her kit.

her passive and ult are both perfectly fine if u understand what they're for (primarily global impact outside your own lane). maybe the best change to her ult would be allowing her to ride it anytime, so she can fake an engage like a Lissandra E

agree that w feels clunky as hell, though that's likely not a taliyah problem and a problem with the way skillshots are inputted in general. go play ezreal in a custom, turn on smartcast, then tap q once in one direction and spam q in a different direction. idk if it's low tickrate or the game being stubborn about taking the first cast as the final cast, but even if you adjust your aim during the mini-channel that most skillshots like ez q have, you can't change where the skillshot goes.

a lack of escapes is not a champion problem, it's an in-built kit weakness (and a necessary one for someone with an anti-dash ability; we've all seen what happens when you have a dash and can prevent dashes Poppy )
