Chalice of harmony should also give attack speed.

10% AS with a price increase of 200 gold. Is that too cheap for AS it gives? What would be a more ideal price or stat?

...what.

item 3028 This thing. You want %AS on this thing.

  1. Basic stats don't appear without building blocks, so you'd have to add Dagger to the build
  2. WHY?

Maybe they can add something cheaper than dagger that can be added to the recipe of chalice.

Dagger is the lowest AS block, so that's impossible.

i meant a new AS item.

Most champions that take Chalice won't want to pay extra for a stat they don't need... It would be like giving IE mana regen.

I'm just curious. What is your reasoning?

taric, ap kog maw, annie, orianna, vayne, etc.

Why would Taric and Annie need attack speed? Why would Vayne build chalice?

Chalice is for casters who need mama regen and some magic resist. This usually fits the bill of mid laners who don't auto attack a lot. Attack speed is a stat they don't need.

AP Kog'Maw and Orianna does a lot of autoattack, but that's why they build Nashor's Tooth.

Taric's passive and Annie's range. Vayne would use the attack speed. And Orianna and Kog Maw wouldn't have to buy two items to get this effect.

Taric passive is dependent more on cooldown reduction than attack speed. Annie does burst damage, not sustained. Unless you're building Annie as an ADC, Annie doesn't need more attack speed. Also, if you're building ADC, you shouldn't build Chalice anyway. Vayne isn't really a mana hungry champion. She wouldn't really benefit much from mana regen.

Also, you aren't considering all the other mages who buy this item who wouldn't need attack speed. You're proposing this change at the cost of mages who aren't Orianna or Kog'Maw (which is a lot). What would justify a change that buffs pretty much these two champions and nerfs almost all mages?

I didn't say Vayne needed mana, but the attack speed would be nice.

Also, mages can make use of attack speed: it helps them take turrets faster. Two other champs that could make use of this are Azir and Syndra.

If Vayne needs attack speed, why would she build Chalice instead of item 3153 item 3046 item 3085 item 3087 item 3078 item 3091 item 3142 item 3172?

Mages are supposed to do a lot of damage to champions, usually as a burst. Taking turrets is for AD champions.

I kinda understand Azir (although getting Fiendish Codex would give him 20% attack speed anyway), but Syndra? How?

She can buy it for the magic resist, attack speed, and CDR from an Athene's.

Mages should be able to push as well as AD champs, they deal less damage to turrets and have slower attack speeds. Getting a kill and pushing a turret down can lead to a great advantage depending on the match.

item 3139 Magic Resist and DPS increase (which covers attack speed and CDR).

The point about AP is that it does a lot of damage with spells, but not a lot with autoattacks. That's why MR items aren't as good as armor items (highest MR is 60 item 3512, highest armor is 100 item 3075 item 3110). Magic damage is good for killing things, but not for taking towers. Similar thing exists in AD: critical damage. You can't crit against a tower, but you can against minions, champions, and monsters.

Besides, if you really want to push with an AP champ, you should get item 3100, not build attack speed.
