Wards

Riot, I understand what you were hoping to accomplish with the change to the number of wards a player was allowed to have active at a time way back when, but by now, it's pretty painfully obvious that at the lower end of play, it just doesn't work. What you end up with is the support still being the only one warding, but now the map is limited to just those three wards, and in many cases, the team throwing fits about this not being warded or that not being warded. It's horrible.

Personally, I would drastically prefer that it go back to the old way, drop as many as you want, etc etc. I can understand you not wanting to make THAT change, but could we at least get the limit raised to 5 or something?

Please?

Vision is incredibly useful, so is limitations on such important things like wards. It forces a small but significant amount of team-play and strategy. Low ELO players eventually see the importance of wards and begin using them.

In ranked, it is a bit better, even in bronze / silver. I'll give you that. But what about normals? Game after game after game, only three wards on the map.

Don't get me wrong because I agree completely with you about the problems of people not understanding the importance of wards. I just can't see a solution where you fix the problem without creating a problem at higher levels. Mayhaps a solution exists in the limit only applying when a certain sum of minutes remains on all allied wards: For example if less than 15minutes of ward coverage remains, a player can overcome the 3 ward limit until such coverage is overcome. This effectively allows lower ELO to experience the benefits of ward coverage and will likely see more players using wards as a result.

I'm not sure how it would cause an issue at the higher levels of play... The whole team already is warding, just as they used to back in the days when wards were unlimited. Why would it create a problem?

As an alternative solution... How about item 2049 continuing to only provide 3 wards, but when it is upgraded to item 2045 the cap is increased to 5? The number of stored wards would stay the same, which still kind of provides some tactical decision making... Do I drop all my wards now and be out until my next recall, or save one or two for emergency situations?

I like this idea. What you explain, to be honest, has rationality. I don't even understand why Riot lowered the limit to 3 each summoner, now that I think about it, without even an explanation too. Whaaaaat?....

Thanks for the comment, Legend1060. As I mentioned originally, I totally understand that riot was wanting to help relieve supports from just bring ward bots, but this didn't accomplish what they wanted.

At high levels of play, everyone wards and used to ward before the changes, so it didn't affect that end of the game at all. But lower levels, as a support main, I cannot any longer keep enough ward coverage to keep adequate vision. I had hoped that eventually players would catch on and it would work the way Riot envisioned. But how long has it been now? At least one full season if not two since the ward changes were implemented, and regularly, I am the only person on the team doing any warding what so ever. Sometimes you will get one other person who drops the odd ward, but that's it. It is a tremendously huge disadvantage, and the team's frustration with the lack of vision is STILL aimed at the support, who really can't even do hardly anything about it anymore. It's just really tiresome.
