Lux's ult seems buggy?

Is it just me or did they make the width of the damage hit box smaller thin it use to be iv seen my self and other playing her and see the ult go where in less the other guy is right in the mid of the beam there seems to be no damage done to them if there under the lower or upper side of it.Its very odd maybe a bug i dont know just seem very odd.
