Really new to league and I need advices

So uhm, hello there. I am quite new to league and I started to play because my friends kind of got me into it :D Since I don't really know anything about the game and I have been spamming Twisted Treeline games. I am level 30 now andd would like to play ranked but I don't do very well at all in those Twisted Treeline games. The reason I play Twisted Treeline is because my friends told me it would be easier to get into the game. It honestly does not seem so. It's so different! But enough blabber. So my questions are the following:

 1. I have around 15k blue thingies and would like to buy some champs! Which champs are easy to play?
 2. Where can I improve at the game? In my last game I went 0/14/4 with Jayce And that's not really good... (tried watching Faker but I can not follow his actions and why he does something.. I don't learn anything tbh)
 3. What summoners should I take? I am playing with heal and ghost constantly because I don't really know what's good.. ghost is useful to get to lane faster but the cooldown is really high, should I still take it?
 4. Someone wanted to report me for buying Lord Dominics on Sivir first, is it not good? What items should I buy first?
 5. Should I start playing ranked or not? I really want to play ranked but I am not really good at the game..I still kind of want to but I don't want to ruin the experience of others.. Glad if someone could give me some advice!

1. Which champs are easy to play?

A lot of it is personal preference. Even if a champ is easy to play, you might not find it fun to play. Rather than rushing into a purchase, take advantage of the weekly free rotations to try out a bunch of champs and find the ones you like.

2. Where can I improve at the game?

Youtube for tutorials is probably a good place to start. Twitch livestreams generally reveal more about in-the-moment mindsets, but that comes after you're familiar with the game. Simply playing more games and getting more experience with different situations will also help.

3. What summoners should I take?

Don't Ghost to get back into lane. Flash is the standard spell because the instant repositioning is useful in a wide variety of situations. If you're jungling (or playing hypercarry on Treeline), then Smite is required for the jungle items and to not cripple yourself. Aside from those two, summoner spell usage is sorta open. Ghost is helpful for champs that want to catch up or keep up with enemy champs; Teleport is useful (mostly on Rift) for getting around the map faster; the combat summoners are more-or-less straightforward.

4. is it not good? What items should I buy first?

So, LDR lets you ignore a target's bonus armor and grants you increased damage if your target has more health than you. It's not a good first item because, early in a match, everyone has relatively similar health totals, and no one's really bought any armor yet. LDR is useful later in a match, but other items are better early. Following the Recommended item builds will typically be a good starting point, though there are a few exceptions.

5. Should I start playing ranked or not?

I'd strongly suggest that you don't. Get some more games under your belt, for your own benefit too. If you do poorly and establish a bad rank now, it'll be troublesome trying to fix it later once you're more comfortable with the game. Play Summoner's Rift to prepare for ranked SR, Treeline for ranked TT, or ARAM/RGM just general exposure.

1.) Depends on your lanes of interest. 2.) Want to practice? Try going against bots to understand the combos. Otherwise, try to get lucky in ARAM. 3.) summoner 4 is typically a must, unless your jungle, then it is summoner 11 . The rest depend on role and intent; summoner 14 to kill, summoner 6 for the movement speed-reliant, summoner 7 is optimal on marksmen, summoner 21 to absorb damage, summoner 12 to gank or roam heavy play, summoner 1 for those cases against much cc is detrimental. 4.) LDR, is not a good first item. Typically grabbed for later into games, particularly if they have a strong tank. Try crit or attack speed items, like item 3508 item 3046 item 3087 item 3031. Also, they tend to list "Essential Items" first before "Offensive Items" and such. Look at recommended stuff. 5.) NO. Stick to normals and learn the ropes before you try anything like ranked.

1: Slow down a bit. Relax. Ranked is for when you feel ready to compete. If you are still just learning, stick to normal games.

2: I recommend looking on youtube for some basic tutorials about the game. If your goal is to prepare for ranked play, then you need to start with terminology: Top Lane, Mid Lane,** Jungle**, AD Carry, Support- location is pretty easy to figure out, but what are the TYPICAL roles for each of those positions?

Team fights- Who does what in a team fight? Identifying who can do what in team fights will help you decide what kind of role you want to have in the game, so try to understand it as it will greatly affect your champion pool.

Split push- what is it? How is it done? how do you deal with it being done to you?

Lane Pressure

Objectives Which ones are more important, when, and why.

Minion Waves learning to control them, use them to your advantage, etc. (Solorenektononly is a youtuber with some pretty easy guides on minion waves)

These are some basic things I think you should get a grasp on. Once you are comfortable with these things, you will be in a better position to decide what champions to buy.

Definitely play some ARAM games, try champs out in the practice tool, see who is fun and interesting to you as a person. These are the champions you will enjoy playing the most and should probably be the ones you focus on getting.

 1. Some easy to play champions include Annie, Sona, Ashe, and I'm sure others have already been mentioned. But don't be too eager to cash in that blue essence. Try out the free week rotation champions and see who feels best.

 2. Improving your game will happen organically, but it can pay to watch your replays and see what mistakes you were making (did you take too much or unnecessary poke, did you miss opportunities to poke your enemy? Did you overstay your welcome? Should you have been grouped with your team when you were alone instead?) There are a lot of factors but practicing good CSing wisely (farming minions by last hitting instead of pushing mindlessly and getting ganked) and learning to trade with your lane opponent efficiently (don't attack them when they have a LOT of minions and you only have a few, that minion damage adds up!)

 3. Summoners: Almost everyone takes flash as one of their spells. It's good defensively as well as offensively and is invaluable on almost every champion in the game. Your other spell can be whatever you want. There are some standards (mid lane usually takes ignite or barrier, top lane typically takes teleport, support takes exhaust and bot takes heal) but there are plenty of situations where the one you take will change.

 4. Lord Dominik's Regards is an anti-tank item that should only be bought when the enemy team has high health tanks who have purchased a lot of armor which generally will not happen until later in the game. If you're going to play Sivir, you should purchase Essence Reaver first or Infinity Edge. Follow those up with a Zeal item (item 3046 , item 3087 , item 3085 , item 3094 ) and then pick items strategically from there. Also! boots are very important. You don't need to necessarily upgrade them first, but having basic boots and upgrading them by mid game is a good idea.

 5. I wouldn't play ranked so soon. Instead, try to play Normal Draft to get an idea of what it's like. picking, counter picking, banning are things you should try to get the hang of before starting, and you'll also start to learn how to create a good team comp and see what your team has need for (do we have someone to help us engage or disengage? a tank? if we're running an assassin to pick them off, how can I facilitate that playstyle?)

3v3 Ranked or 5v5?

 1. Wait to buy! We only have 3 refunds in the whole account life, and missclicks and stuff can happen, save them. We have several champions free to play even week so play them and see who you like! Easy champions don't exist: Everything is personal. For example I play mages and it's commonly accepted that the easiest mage of the game is Annie, as her abilities basically can't miss.. Yet I can't play her decently for my life cause her short range is so limitating for me I find it really difficult to do anything with her.

 2. I watch Faker too but I wouldn't recommend it to a new guy. He doesn't explain what he's doing and why, and understanding it requires some knowledge. I suggest you start with some streamers who specifically make their videos to explain the basics of the game and the champions, even if their games are not high level it's more than enough to start going on. Also I don't really recommend twisted treeline to learn the game, unless you want to stay in that mode cause you don't like summoners rift.

 3. You should go with flash 100% of the time. Not only you can flash when a crucial ability it's flying on your direction to avoid it, it even lets you go through walls. Some specific champions are better with ghost but it's "less bad" (god my English sucks) to be a ghost champion with flash than to be a flash champion with ghost.

The other summoner spell is champion specific: Remember what they do. Your champion is supposed to kill the other in a short time frame from close range? You probably want ignite. Your champion deals damage from range but they are terribly squishy when someone gets them and they can't escape (save for using flash)? You may need barrier or heal

 1. You should read what your abilities do and what the items do to decide what to buy, and also read what enemy champions do.

Your Sivir has a q whose damage increases with attack damage, a w whose damage increases with attack damage and the number of basic attacks she can use, an E who is a defensive tool and an R who is a huge team buff. She attacks from range so defense is not required. Probably buying something that increases your attack damage and attack speed (number of basic attacks per second) is a good idea. Over the shop and search for attack damage items and then for attack speed items and read what they do and what best suits your needs.

Then look at enemy champions: Let's see they got a Sion Sion . He's a tank who's going to have loads of health late game and is probably going to buy armor against you. Your lord Dominick is probably a good idea since it gives %bonus armor penetration and a passive that is going to make you do more damage the more health he has more than you. It is however not a good buy as first item cause 1. You lack attack damage for the bonuses the item offers to matter 2. Sion still has to buy armor.. So you have nothing to penetrate yet xD 3.Sion still doesn't have this much more health than you so the passive giving more damage the more health difference basically doesn't apply.

The only mandatory item in every build is boots , which you can choose a specific type. There is currently only a champion that doesn't buy boots: Cassiopeia

 1. No offense but you're still learning very very basic concepts such as items to buy and summoner spells to use. Consistently playing ranked will net you a bronze 5/4 90% . I have climbed bronze several times and these are the only divisions where I met people with bad summoners and no-sense itemization. You can try one or two games if you're really curious but I don't recommend playing it consistently.

Have fun in the rift (.. Or treeline I guess?) and happy learning 😊 Lux

Play ranked if you want, but based on all the things you said, get ready to have a hard time and lose lots of games. Your first placement games are likely to place you in Silver or high Bronze but I guarantee you will fall to Bronze 5 eventually.

Though Bronze 5 is the lowest possible rank on the ladder, even there people know what summoners to choose, what items to buy etc. I started in season 5 and also started ranked as soon as I could. I struggled in B5, eventually ended the season in B4. Next season, I was able to climb to Silver after nearly 1000 games.

I recommend playing ranked as soon as possible. Though the experience will be horrible, you will learn much much faster.

Run.

Ok sure but why1 votes

Play Ranked under-prepared anyways; that's what everyone else in my elo seems to do

Ok sure but why1 votes

But in seriousness to your questions,

 1. Warwick Garen DrMundo Singed If you have absolutely no skill expression other than "Run to target," then these guys are your best friends
 2. Firstly, you gotta remember that League of Counterpicks is a thing; if you played Jayce against a Malphite, then you're obviously gonna get your ass handed to you post-6
 3. Almost everyone takes Flash, always; everything else is just a niche; snowballing carries take ignite, supports take ignite/exhaust, mages/ADCs take barrier/heal, and junglers take smite, unless they're in my ranked games
 4. Maybe reading the items and finding out what they actually do can be a consideration before buying stuff? There's gonna be a giant crit item update, but ADC marksmen tend to buy crit items, boots and life steal first; in lane, the Dom's Regards literally does NOTHING, because the enemy ADC has neither bonus armour nor more health than you, which means the current Dom's Regards would only give you a poor amount of AD with no usable perks on top of it
 5. You already have more self-control than half of the idiots that play this game, and I commend you for that. Just p r a c t i c e i n n o r m s until you know what on earth you're doing.
YOU SO BAD1 votes

Yeah dont play ranked. Props for having enough sense to ask for advice. There are way to many idiots in ranked that went out and bought an account and have no idea what they are doing.

Decided what role you want to play.

find 3-5 champions for that role you like.

Look up guides on moba fire for those champions. Read them.

Practice in a bot games to get mechanics of champions down.

Go to normal's for a greater challenge vs players.

when you want a greater challenge go to draft mode normal's.

After you hit level 45 ish doing these things you can think about ranked.

Some tips:

-Don't play support or jg if you don't like being blamed for stuff you didn't do -Playing games in league as practice is useless if you don't identify your mistakes and correct them and keep blaming other factors instead -Hold off from ranked until you get good at maybe at least 2-4 champs for one role (in case of bans, counter picks) -Play some 5v5 to help you adapt to 5v5 ranked, unless you only want to 3v3 -Yasuo looks like an easy, braindead champion who can penta from smashing keyboard, but he takes practice to get all the mechanics right, but he's definitely quite strong (There's a reason why Yasuos have a bad reputation of either feeding or going 12/0) -Yi, Soraka, Garen, Lux, Annie, Janna, MF and Sivir are all relatively easy champs to play

The reason I play Twisted Treeline is because my friends told me it would be easier to get into the game. It honestly does not seem so. It's so different! But enough blabber.

Hello and Weclome!

Summoners Rift is a completely different ballgame to TT. Learning the map, the roles, and the key objectives is always the best place to start. Avoid asking friends about champions they don't KNOW. When I first started I played Nocturne and was told to rush Botrk by my friend. He didn't even own nocturne and had rarely seen him played. Go on websites like lolalytics and op.gg for item builds :P

So my questions are the following:

 1. I have around 15k blue thingies and would like to buy some champs! Which champs are easy to play?

It's really down to your own playstyle, and sometimes you'll have a "click" moment with a champion, sometimes you won't. I wanted a burst midlaner/assassin mid last season, tried Akali, didn't fit, tried Zed, was BAD, tried Diana, boom, felt natural. Don't get me wrong a LOT of practice goes into learning a champion, but if you don't feel that "click" moment then for me it's just not gunna work out.

 1. Where can I improve at the game? In my last game I went 0/14/4 with Jayce And that's not really good... (tried watching Faker but I can not follow his actions and why he does something.. I don't learn anything tbh)

Forget Faker, if you find a champion you want to play then search up people that main him, preferably with commentary. They will talk you through exactly what they are doing. Solorenekton being a perfect example if you're looking at top lane.

 1. What summoners should I take? I am playing with heal and ghost constantly because I don't really know what's good.. ghost is useful to get to lane faster but the cooldown is really high, should I still take it?

Flash is a must on almost every champion. After that it depends on the champion you are playing, where your are playing and and who your are playing against. For an ADC like Sivir the normal sums would be flash/heal, whereas jayce top might take flash/TP or Flash/Ignite depending on the opponents champion.

 1. Someone wanted to report me for buying Lord Dominics on Sivir first, is it not good? What items should I buy first?

Sivir benefits from Crit items, and while Lord Dom's is good on her later in the game, it's not a strong first item for her.

 1. Should I start playing ranked or not? I really want to play ranked but I am not really good at the game..I still kind of want to but I don't want to ruin the experience of others..

Don't do it. wait until you understand how the map, the champions, the builds etc work. Build a SMALL champion pool, maybe 2-3 champions for your main roles, with 1 support in case of autofill and 2 for your secondary role (unless you go support secondary). Play them into anything and everything you can. If you get countered, search up video's of people playing that match up as see what they do so you know for next time. Youtube is one of the best resources for understanding champion matchups, but never forget most streamers are high elo playing against mid-low elo so while they might take soraka mid and end 20/1/5 that doesn't mean YOU will :P

Glad if someone could give me some advice!

I'm not on the EUW server so can't really come help you in game, but feel free to ask and some people on here will offer you their help (just don't PAY them for it, anyone can see a mistake in hindsight >.<).

1. Which champs are easy to play?

Save your Blue Essence. There are free champions that you can try in the mean time to at least learn what role you want to play. It will take a while for you to figure out your preferred role, and it's better to have as much essence as possible so you can buy champions for that role instead of who looks fun but really isn't.

2. Where can I improve at the game?

Look up people on Youtube. People I watch are Foxdrop (jungler), Anklespankin (ADC/random), Phylol (ADC), SoloRenektonOnly (Top), and Prismal (Challenger ADC). The reason I suggest these people is that they explain what they are doing while playing, so perhaps you can see why they make the decisions they made. Prismal is really good at explaining things, but he can be a little overwhelming even for someone like me who has been playing this game for a few years, so maybe start with the others first.

Most of them talk expecting you to know certain things, like if I say Morgana Bind (her Q ability), they expect that you know what that ability does (it's a snare; a form of Crowd Control (CC) that stops your from moving but you can still auto attack and cast abilities), so you kinda need to know stuff before what they are saying makes sense.

If possible, get your friend to help teach you the game. Get in voice chat and let your friend explain things to you. If you need more help, I'd be willing to help teach you but since I'm in NA it might be difficult.

Otherwise I would recommend playing against bots for a bit (if you haven't been already) just so you can learn what each champions abilities do. It will take a while before you learn what each champion does, but learning that will help you learn the game quicker. I would also recommend looking up each champion to see what their abilities do. Even if you don't know everything that a champion does, having a basic understanding of them will help you.

There is a big difference between knowing what a champion does and being able to use them well, so don't be discouraged if it takes a while. I mentally understand how to play Zed and yet can't do it to save my life. Not all of us are meant to be able to play every champion.

3. What summoners should I take?

First thing first, summoners are a last resort. This is a common mistake new players make because the tutorial does a bad job explaining. You don't want to be using your summoners to get to lane faster. If you are 500 hp out of 600 hp, DO NOT use heal summoner spell. I know that's what the tutorial teaches, but that's not how it should be used. Instead, you want to be using them to survive a fight or catch up to a low health enemy to finish them off.

Summoner spells have long cooldowns because they are very strong. Generally, everyone takes Flash because it allows you to instantly dodge abilities that would kill you or to instantly get in range to finish someone else off. From there, it depends on the champion you are playing, the lane you are in, how you plan to play, etc. Again I highly recommend going into a bot game and trying out different spells.

4. is it not good? What items should I buy first?

Champion builds are something you learn over time. If you don't know what to build, I recommend looking up your champion on Champion.gg and just building what they recommend. There is a reason these items are built, but it's hard to explain because it depends on each champion, who you are against, who is your biggest threat, etc.

There is about to be a big change to ADC items (items that Sivir uses), so this information will only be useful for a little bit, but for Marksman, generally you want to build BF Sword, Zeal, basic boots, finish Zeal item (getting either Shiv, Rapid Fire Cannon, Phantom Dancer, or Runaan), upgrade boots, then finish the BF into Infinity Edge or Essence Reaver. That is considered the core items for most Marksman/ADCs. If you build BF, Zeal, Shiv, and IE in that order every game regardless of markman champion, you'll be fine.

5. Should I start playing ranked or not?

Personally I would say no. People take ranked very seriously, and if you don't know what to build, what runes to take, what each champion does, etc, then they will think you are trolling and will report you or flame you.

If you do play ranked, you will start around Silver, probably lose quite a few games, and eventually fall into Bronze where it will be harder to get better at the game because no one down there seems to understand the game/don't take it seriously.

My recommendation is to play against bots for a while, because they will help you learn the basics of what each champion does without needing to worry about causing people to lose games. After that, go into normal games. You've been playing against people in Twisted Treeline already, so you already sorta know what to expect

While playing against bots, you should learn a few things.

Firstly, you want to practice last hitting the minions. Last hitting means dealing the last bit of damage needed to kill it. If you last hit anything in this game, you get gold. Last hit a champion and you are awarded a kill + gold. Last hit a buff camp, and you are awarded that buff + gold. Last hit dragon and you earn a buff for your team + gold. Getting gold is the main focus in this game. Getting gold allows you to get items, which makes killing champions and taking towers/dragons/barons easier. Last hitting minions is the easiest way to get gold in this game, and learning to do that early will help you a lot as you play more. That is the number one thing people who are looking to get better at this game are told to do, so learning this early will give you a big advantage.

If you haven't already, learn to play with camera unlocked. I learned to play with locked camera, and then had to relearn how to play with it unlocked. Having it unlocked allows you to aim your skill shots at people off your screen. It also allows you to look at other areas on the map without needing to left click on the mini map. However, playing with it unlocked requires that you move your mouse much more to constantly make sure your camera is in a good place while also making sure you are moving your champion around as well. I recommend going into the game settings and lowering the camera move speed to 50 if not lower, cause otherwise your camera will fly halfway across the map if you slightly touch the side of the screen. Go into the Practice tool (in client, click Play button, click Training, then click Practice tool), and try moving around with it unlocked, then try last hitting minions while moving around. After it feels better, go into bots and try playing a whole game with it unlocked.

Lastly, learn to level up abilities with Control and self cast abilities with Alt. Being able to level up an ability mid fight might be the difference between a kill and an enemy escaping with 10 hp. Additionally, many champions have shields or heals that can be targeted to an ally or yourself (Janna shield, Lulu shield, Karma shield). If you are casting it on an ally, you have to click that ally. But if you want to cast it on yourself, you can instead just hold alt and hit your shield button and it will automatically place it on you. It is much quicker to do it that way and will save yourself from accidentally misclicking when you meant to protect yourself.

Building up muscle memory in this game will make your life easier, so try to learn these things now while everything feels weird so that it becomes normal the more you play.
