Suggestion to give Vel'Koz some deserving love

Make his Q like Nidalle's spear or Zoe's q, where the damage is increased by distance travelled. This would encourage players to shoot Q not always in the direction of the champion they want to hit and the reactivate the ability after for max damage, rewarding the more complex playstyle and skillshots . Honestly, his Q base damage and ap-scaleing are pretty bad for the most difficult skillshot (full range Q) in League, in my opinion. All the indirect buffs like the mana rework or the sucessive assassin buffs are pushing him out of mid lane to be only relevant as a support, so i think he deserves some love.

Vel’Koz doesn’t need more damage. He already has all the damage he needs. His problem is his damage is unreliable because of his e. I would suggest increasing his e suspension duration by .25 sec from .75 sec to 1 sec. right now Vel’Koz’s e is the worst skills shot in the game. It’s reward is not worth its difficulty. If you do the math. .75 sec is a little less than a third of his ultimate duration so Vel’Koz can land his whole combo and the enemy can still get away or turn on you while you’re ulting.

Agreed. E is only very useful on the back end of someone else's cc. It's not useful for peel or for duels, which makes it a pretty rough ability to use effectively.

Exactly. It’s cc duration is so short that I’ve gotten into the habit of ulting prematurely (before the e hits the enemy champion) to get some extra seconds of ultimate in. It’s so short that you have to know it will land before it does because if you’re unsure of yourself, then the e hits, the suspension will be over right as you turn around to capitalise on it. If you ultimate prematurely like I sometimes do and you’re wrong, the consequences are dire since you’ll be rooted.

They should also fix the e glitch that makes it disappear after Vel’Koz dies.

You're actually supposed to ult as early as possible and this would still be true if E lasted longer. With a combo mage you're supposed to know ahead of time whether your CC is good or not and do the rest of your combo without waiting. This rewards prediction and punishes hesitation, therefore adds skill expression.

Vel'koz just needs better options against assassins and stuff. Like he can't fight them because of how his kit works and how their kits work. I don't think AP itemization can cover his weaknesses well enough because these items are balanced around the AP champs who have few weaknesses, so the items may be really good at covering one weakness but they leave other weaknesses very open. And there are no AP options that help against hypermobile opponents. If your kit is relatively dodgeable, you are relegated to waveclearing and participating in ganks or teamfights only.

Anyway for changes to his kit I would suggest increasing the slow on his ult for enemies facing towards him because it's actually really easy for enemies to turn on him and burst him during it even if he's ulting them from pretty far away.

Honesty I feel like that’s a lot of risk for not enough reward. It works but I think there needs to be more reward. Vel’Koz would have to adopt a riskier play just because his e is so bad just to get a kill even if he land the e. It’s ridiculous on my opinion because if I miss e, I would just walk away and try again later but if I land it, then the cc duration wouldn’t be enough to secure the kill. It’s stupid that I would have to adopt more risk despite landing my whole combo just because e is so bad. If I land my whole combo, that should be enough.

And how is adding a new kind of slow on the ultimate going to help against immobile champions who turn on you? Slows don’t effect dashes and blinks. Am I right? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Vel'koz has really good kiting and waveclear that's hard to punish so I think it's fair for his combo to require prediction. You want him to be better/more reliable at directly fighting people but you aren't considering that he has other strengths which most other champions with powerful combos do not have.

You're right that slows don't have any effect on dashes or blinks but I still think it would help a little bit because those champs still have to do some walking unless we're talking about a few specific champs like Malphite or Camille for example.

I think it would be a mistake to do something drastic like say grounding opponents inside his ult or increasing E duration because honestly he's already pretty good and he's just been hurt by power creep. So I think he should get only minor buffs if anything but mostly other champs should be nerfed.

First of all he doesn't need buffs. He's balanced.

Second of all, this is a bad change that shows a lack of understanding of the champion. He's not supposed to get a ton of damage from poking. He's supposed to land his combo. If you are playing him with a poke mindset you're doing it wrong. You should play him with a combo mindset and kiting mindset. Poking is sort of an afterthought. His Q is a kiting tool and also one of his ways to set up his combo.

Vel’Koz is pretty weak right now if you look at the statistics.

Other champs need to be nerfed. It's just powercreep.

Honestly, Ithink riot is less likely to do that.
