All characters unlocked in ARAM

ARAM is a very casual gamemode, where I can learn matchups without the same amount of pressure on losing as SR. If all characters were unlocked for everybody to have randomely, there would be more variety to the gamemode, providing way higher odds of having a more dynamic matchup with more uncommon scenarios than before.

With the time it takes to even get hold of a character to learn them properly, it would be good to have aram as an additional source to learn about every character more in depth, not just from the weekly free to play rotations.

I would really like to see this tried out.

I'd be game if they allow rewards for un-owned champs. I won't waste time in a game if I have no chance at rewards. Feels bad getting an s along w/ the message no rewards because you don't own said champ. I already dodge when I get a champ that I don't own. This would just make me dodge more w/o other changes implemented :)

while i highly recommend new players to play aram, it's got nothing to do with learning matchups. You don't lane in aram so certain champs have to play and sometimes even build completely different. The only reason i think it's valuable for new players to play aram is to find champs they like. there's also like absolutely nothing to lose from losing a normal draft game so idk what pressure we're talking about here.

It's a for fun mode, playing some champ i never bought ain't fun, it's why i didn't buy the champ. That said i still have a chance to get a champ i don't own as irc there's 40 champs added to the pool from the previous rotations. and i think that's a fair middleground for those who want all champs and those who don't.

A fair middle ground would be to allow everyone to limit their pools if they wanted to. So everyone gets to have the pool they want for aram.

Jerry SeinfeId3 votes

who is forcing you to buy champs you don't like? I understand your point but the pool i'm talking about isn't about limiting what i want for aram, it's about limiting what i want unlocked on my account.

i'd be fiine with this change i suppose as it would only benefit me but i feel like this goes against what the "unlock all champs" camp wants as it would pretty much turn any account into an aram account.

Maybe I like the champs on the rift. Also, what am I gonna do with BE lol. I have all champs spent over 100k BE in each emporium and I still have more than 70k BE left and haven't opened a lvl up capsule in ages.

If all champs are not available for everybody (best solution). At the very least let all people decide their pools not only those that have aram specific accounts(huge percentage btw in high MMR aram matches)

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

then you unlocked them because you like the champ. I don't see the issue with getting them on aram then aside from the fact that they might not be optimal, which isn't exactly the goal of aram. Tell me what you're spending BE on other than champs. most likely nothing aside from the emporium as you mentionned. Now you have a champ you're never gonna play instead of BE, what did you actually gain? I'm at a decent amount of BE rn and i spend it whenever i feel like on whatever i feel like, i don't get this NEED to spend it.

it's not the best solution, just the one that would please you and people who want all of it unlocked. I'm really tired of this "it's the best solution" argument. And yeah these accounts are brought up all the time, but i've yet to actually feel like i've been matched vs aram accounts. Noone ever brings any actual data to back it up. either way there's already the extended champ rotation to make those accounts less usefull. honestly this has more to do with the fact that smurfs are allowed to exist.

Saezio1 votes

If you don't see Aram Accounts, you are low Aram MMR that's why.

Extended champ rotation was a good step. But not enough with the bench and 10 possible rerolls per lobby. Also, dodges and alts make it even worse.

If you check someone who plays only ARAM and they always have mage/adc 20 times in a row, it's an aram account.

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

yeah, same cookie cutter response as usual. with the only method of checking mmr i have i was at top 17% for aram when i actively played this game so no i haven't been in the actual high elo aram games. but considering how widespread the problem is supposed to be it should atleast be high enough to notice something's off. I didn't wanna bring this whole elo thing up as i don't like discussing things that way. but that's as far as my experience goes, and honestly if it's only in the top 10% it's really not that many of em and thus not a big issue.

i feel like the only ppl claiming they're playing vs aram accounts are ppl who need an excuse for their loss. I'm sorry but i don't spend my time on tracking someone cuz they got lux and won with it.

there's very few champs that are truly, truly useless in aram and rundown comps are honestly severly underrated in aram.

I don't mind losing at all. I hate playing vs the same champs over and over and over. And with the same champs obviously.

I personally wouldn't limit my own pool. Or maybe I would take some champs out that are M5 already because my aram goal is to get all champs to mastery 5. I am just saying that if Riot are unwilling to open all champions for everyone, the most fair solution would be to let people that don't want to play some of their champions, rule them out.

ALSO, I would like riot to revise how rerolls are gained. ATM it seems like you get ZERO value for owning more than 100 champions when there are 146 in the game.

Make it so you need all champs to earn 1 reroll per game. Or make reroll amount vary based on owned champions.

P.S. ALL my suggestions are based on my belief that Riot will never open all champions.

P.S.2 Lux isn't even that strong. Stuff like Maokai/Mundo/Malphite are way stronger. Or supports that are played like supports are also of huge value when someone is tryharding for the wins.

in the only games i have left on my op.gg rn there's 5 aram games, in those games i saw 43 different champs and only 7 appeared twice. no champ appeared more than twice. this isn't taking into account the bunch of champs that didn't make it through "champ select". Considering the bench and rerolling i really don't think that's an issue.

afaik reroll gain is already based on champs owned so i don't see why we need to restrict that stuff even more.

i used lux as an example because ppl cry about poke comps all the time, while they're quite mediocre without one beefy unit. but if you agree on that i don't see why not owning every champ is an issue. as the main complaint is usually "poke comps waaaah" while completely ignoring rushdown/all in comps. lux is plenty strong as a unit on aram, if the person who gets her actually play lux she's devastating. just not being one of the aram 1v5 champs like those 3 doesn't make her not great. running suport builds on aram just makes you someone a bad person tbh.

Or just an account that dodges when they don't get a champ they like/own.. I don't play a champ I don't own.

SociopathFriend1 votes

I've been playing this game since 2013. I still don't own probably half a dozen champs or so: Zed Shaco Khazix Azir Qiyana Shyvana Rengar

Honestly there's no reason for me to. I don't want to play them.

With the increased free champion amount every week that's fine enough. If you want all champs unlocked in ARAM, then make a PBE acount and play there.

This is what bots are for. Aram is not a source to learn champions for a couple reasons.

  1. The likely hood of getting a champion you want to learn is very unlikely.
  2. Champions are balanced differently in aram. So you may feel OP in aram because of their numbers difference in aram and experience/gold gain then you join summoners rift and find that the champion feels different.
Saezio1 votes

Well you can learn teamfighting and other champions strengths faster than in the Rift because you see so many champions in a small amount of games.

But you learn fuck all when it comes to objectives, Laning, Csing, Warding and a bunch of other things

  1. It's about learning all champions and get a feeling for them, not to learn particular champs. You can still prioritize by rerolling if you want to play certain champs only. The goal is to NOT have the same champs all the time in every single game.

  2. I can feed my ass off with Akali in both Aram and SR. The point being, you're gonna learn the mechanics and spells of every champ, not necessarily focus on how much damage every single spell does. And let's be honest, even in SR maybe 1% actually try to remember damage numbers/know how much damage they do with which attacks.

The only reason I'm for this is so that ARAM smurfs don't just fill their account with the good champs.

Speeedy1 votes

exactly like my aram account its ADCs and a few mages like Xerath Lux etc.

There is nothing wrong with ARAM. Why do people keep complaining about the champs they are facing? There is no such thing as a bad ARAM champion. Only a champion that you aren't good at or might be someone countered by the enemy team.

I own all the champions. There are maybe 20 of them that I am really bad at or I hate or just haven't learned yet. I don't feel at all gimped by owning all the champs and rarely am forced to play something I really don't want to play.

As someone who really was an almost solely ARAM account for years, this change is unneeded (i think i'm at 7000+ aram games now). Perhaps i'm one of the few people who actively decided to just keep getting more and more champions over time even before snowball but like you said the same champs get stale. Also the meta for ARAM has changed so much over the years that mages and adcs are simply not a free win anymore. Most high rated ARAM accounts have a huge variety of champions at this point that i've run into.

If you want more champions, buy them. Yes it's time consuming and expensive in terms of BE but ARAM has been fiddled with quite enough thank you. Just let it be and push riot to actually create a new permanent game mode that involves some real gameplay (sorry TFT fans).

They actually should make like a small pool of champs in the middle screen (30 visible champs to roll that everyone in your party owns) with a number set on them from 1 to 6. So basically, the mini-game would be that if you roll your dice, you can get one of them. 30 champs cause 6 owned per player. And the odds are fair. Every player usually has 2 rolls, unless they have used one previously. And of course, if the other party rolls first and gets let's say.. Lux, then the portrait changes to a grey overlay.

Just dropping ideas at this point.
