Vel'Koz Ult skillshot > Braum's E

So, I'm in this PVP game, and I am questioning as to why this has been here for so long and has not yet been patched. Braum's E can block huge waves of water, violent tornadoes, the charm of an kitsune, force pulses, boulders, Ezreal's infamous Trueshot Barrage, and the list may go on.

But I am unable to block Vel'Koz's Disintegration Ray...which has yet to have been mechanically explained or implemented. Unless there is someone that can clarify as to why Braum's E is unable to block Disintegration Ray, and don't tell me that because of the fact that it's void matter that Braum's E is physically and virtually incapable of at least shortening the length of the shot entirely, please refine this in-game confrontation.

At least, with refining some things with the Disintegration Ray and its interaction with Braum's Unbreakable, please make it so that at least the Ray's length is reduced depending upon Braum's distance from Vel'Koz. The farther Braum is when it is fired, the more space it has to launch out its damage, the less farther Braum is from the shot, the less amount of space it is given to deal out damage.

It is not a projectile, it is an instant aoe damage zone.

You also can't block Lux's laser.

Physics and logic are dictated by the game engine, not by reality's physics and logic.

In League of Legends, a "projectile" is defined as any non-unit effect that has a travel time. The ball of light from Lux's Q? Projectile. The shockwave from Vel'koz's W? Projectile.

Vel'koz's (and Lux's) ultimate is an instantaneous effect. There is no travel time for the effect. It's categorized as an AoE spell, rather than a projectile. Thus, it is not affected by Braum's E or Yasuo's W. It bypasses completely.

Which begs the question, why aren't Lux and vel'koz's ultimates pass through projectiles? Theoretically they should just travel at around the speed of light and should be coded with a ridiculous travel time?

I don't mind Lux's laser passing through champions but it's actually always bothered me that vel'koz's ult does pass through a champion even as it just doesn't look like a pass through skill shot (perhaps I'm saying it needs a new visual) - currently it looks way to similar to jinx's Zap! And yet behaves completely differently.

Same applies to stuff like Yasuo ulting on to a jumping tristana or kalista, if the game truly has no height dimension I don't even understand how this works in the engine but it definitely also doesn't make sense Logically.

Yasuo ulting on jumps is a bug. It's not supposed to happen, jumps don't (or shouldn't) apply the Airborne debuff like knockups, knockbacks and pulls/flings.

And as for Vel's ult passing through targets, it's an ethereal ray of disintigration. It defies material laws :P

This was a big discussion when Braum was released, as to what he could and could not block. Here's the short version: if it has a travel time, Braum can block it. Seeing as how Vel'Koz's ult is an instant beam with no travel time, Braum can not block it (but the damage WILL be reduced for targets behind Braum, so I'm told.) The same applies to Lux's Ult.

Riot stated that the walls don't block lasers.

Every other poster covered the rest of it.

Careful of the phrasing there; Viktor's Death Ray would like to disagree with you.

This is working exactly as intended. Life Form Disintegration Ray is not a projectile, and thus completely ignores both Wind Wall and Unbreakable. Those 2 abilities block anything that has a travel time and appears to move horizontally from the champion toward a destination point.

A few notable exceptions: Soraka Starcall Ziggs Mega Inferno Bomb Xerath Rite of the Arcane Off the top of my head, these are the only projectile-based abilities that are not blocked, on account of them having such steep trajectories that they pass over the walls.

Wind Wall and Unbreakable will also block all ranged auto-attacks, excepting those of Vel'Koz, Thresh, Azir, and possibly Viktor's enhanced auto from Q (I haven't tried that one, but it should bypass the wall), as they strike instantly after their windup, with no travel time in between.

YOU CANNOT BLOCK CHANNELED ABILITIES WITH CHAMPIONS WHO HAVE SHIELDS.
