Ryze vs Nasus

Can you help me here, me and a friend having a discussion who you guys think is tankier just tankier no damage nothing just tank mess between ryze and nasus..... Thank you

4 things to consider: Runes, Masteries, Itemization and Kits.

Runes:

Ryze = MS quints, MPen/Hybrid Pen Marks, Defensive Seals, and Flat/Scaling Mana Nasus = MS Quints (Or anything you'd like pretty much), Pen/Defensive Marks, Defensive Seals (Health or Armor), MRes Blues

Masteries:

Ryze = 9/0/21 or (in some very specific cases) 0/9/21 Nasus = 9/21/0 or 21/9/0, or 0/21/9 or some variation

Itemization:

Ryze = Tear -> Roa -> Frozen Heart -> MR Item -> Void Staff -> 2nd Tear Nasus = Sheen -> Tanky + Triforce (or frozen fist but w/e)

Kits:

Ryze = AoE DPS + Root + MR reduction + spell vamp + CDR buff Nasus = Scaling DPS + % life steal + slow + armor reduction + health buff

Conclusion:

I know im being very vague when listing champion builds + setups, but keep in mind these are generalizations.

Looking at everything that is not to do with how the two champions would play in a lane (or matchups, etc), we can see that Ryze builds a lot of dps/utility items in the form of CDR, Mana, some AP and magic pen whereas Nasus can get away with building straight tank to give him the survivability to stack his Q.

Keep in mind this does not mean Nasus will always fill the tank/bruiser role better than Ryze or even team fight or duel better than Ryze. Ryze is Aoe, Nasus is Single Target, and they play very differently and support/synergize with different comps and play-styles. This only shows that Nasus prefers (or can get away with) building primarily tanky, with a bit of damage thrown in, where Ryze would like to build more 'half-and-half' to benefit from his spell vamp (if neglecting damage).

Stand alone, Nasus. Both require some form of sustain, but Ryze does more Burst AOE and can one shot as opposed to Nasus who can be kited. Once Nasus is in range tho, you're pretty much dead tho.

Ryze vs Nasus at max, Nasus Will probably do more Dmg just because He can build tons of stax...at least til the game bug as of recently LOL

Gonna go with Nasus, he has innate lifesteal, has a great cripple with his W, and gets a lot of bonus health from his ult. While Ryze gets spellvamp and movement speed from his ult and a snare from his W. If we're looking solely at kits.

Ideal itemization-wise I'll still go with Nasus. Ryze is constricted to mana items, and that leads him to always be wanting in the MR department. Nasus is much more flexible in that regard, which is more important in a tanky champ in my eyes.
