Riot, Fix Your Ranked System

I have always loved League of Legends. I have spent copious amounts of money on this game and it brings me great joy to play. This is no longer the case. After going 5-5 in ranked games (with most of those being 10+ kills positive) I was placed in Bronze V. That is the stupidest most idiotic thing I have ever heard of. I did better in my provisionals than all of my friends and many of them were placed ahead of me. Now is this some sort of mistake, or is the system really that bad? Someone please help me to understand this atrocity that was my ranking.

Let me try to make sense for you.

For the first 6 placement matches, you duo'd with your friend "blacksciencemah", who is bronze 4. You guys were facing bronze 4 and bronze 5 players. You went 50% win rate there.

THEN you duo'd with another friend "akang8819" who is bronze 5. Even tho you won all of them, you were faced against bronze 5 and unranked players.

The last game you won on J4 in a convincing manner, you were queued up against all unranked players.

What league sees from this, You go even with bronze 4 and brozne 5. Win easily against brozne 5 and unranked. So they put you in brozne 5, where they believe you belong.

Ranked isn't broken, I got placed plat 5, climbed my way back to plat 2 in 3 days.

^ Makes sense.

Only issue I see is that the game refuses to put him Bronze 4 or 3.

I see where you are coming from. However, the one thing that I will say is that both of those players were also unranked and going through provisionals when I was playing with them. Therefore, I cannot control what rank they are given and I should not be punished as such. I was at a silver MMR last season, so why should I be punished due to the players Riot matches me with. Also, if I destroy Bronze players, it makes no freaking sense that I should be placed in that league. I should be placed higher.

As of right now, when the new season started, Challenger and Master tiers are wiped out. So the former Challengers and Masters are now in Diamond and sometimes Plat.

It is just all shifting downwards from that point.

You were silver MMR, I am betting probably low silver? It is normal to be shifted downward :)

Don't worry tho, if you are truly at the silver skill level, you will climb extremely fast

Riot should do a hard reset and just make everyone work their way up every season.

I would be okay with a hard reset, but the ranking system would have to be faster overall I feel. I.E. you go into promos with less games but can get dropped ranks easier as well. That way challenger level players don't have to play 100's of games against bronzies through golds to get back into their skill level. That's the only complication I could really see.

Well, that's kind of the point of a hard reset. Everyone starts over.

The current MMR system (if I understand it correctly) already compensates for this by awarding more LP per win when you win a bunch of games, and vice versa.

you faced easier players. it goes by your mmr from last season and kda isn't taken into account.
