Previously Unranked Duo Queueing

Ok, so just looking for some info since I can't find anything regarding my problem anywhere. Here's the story:

I'm currently playing on an account that was unranked at the end of season last year, but I got it to plat 4 by yesterday, but I can only duo queue with people between bronze and gold, even though I'm being placed in games with plat / diamond... I've met a couple of people I've wanted to duo with in these games but can't because they're plat / diamond... yet another flaw in the system or am I glitched somehow?

sounds like a glitch.

My GF and I are having this same issue. We're both unranked, but I was plat last season...
