Why do most players go attack speed items first?
I have been watching the LCS, LCK and professional streams. They usually for rapid fire cannon, Runaan's hurricane and Phantom Dancer as their first items. Its this a new meta or am i just dumb?

I've been under the impression that bf sword->zeal item was the way to go if possible, just since that works out to be the most cost efficient dps from my understanding.
BF sword (and perhaps pick) gives you base damage, then the zeal item gets you critting, and only then IE to modify the crits you're getting (or ER to benefit from the cdr you get from the crit, depending on champ). The completed BF items don't actually give any more raw stats compared to their components now (compared to last season), so most of the gold you're spending to complete the item is just for their passives, which need other items (i.e. a zeal item) to really be effective.
Attack Speed and Crit are very valuable this season.
Attack speed means you have more of a chance to crit because you're attacking more often/faster and crit means you'll crit on more auto's.
Also depends on the champions, because lots of ADCs got crit mechanics/scaling put into their kit during the adc changes.
Well when you play a champion that is better with Crit/Ats/Attack Damage you would go those items first, Best items first, then situational

Depends, I just tend to buy bf sword+25 AD item->finish an AS item because you already got the AD the completed item would give what you gain from AS items are heavy amount of Crit, AS and MS all plus a powerful passive which is much better than forcing a bf sword item's completion for no extra AD and no crit for essence reaver.
For AS carries though obviously you rush AS items (Vayne/Kalista)
because they're playing champs with strong on-hit abilities... so "on-hitting" as fast as possible is good on them.
When I play vayne, the first item I buy is RFC
