The Autofill Feature is Broken
As a player since season one, and a ranked player since season 2, I can't say that I have experienced trolls in champion select on this scale before.
Even back before the "teambuilder" type queue where roles were determined by pick order, there were less trolls simply because if you were higher in the pick order, you were entitled to play the role you wanted to play. With the autofill feature, (mind you I am currently playing in silver elo and this may not be a problem with higher skilled and more mature players), if I am not playing flex with players that I already know, or if I am not queued with a support player, the person that gets autofilled support tends to troll more often than not by either:
A. Picking a champion that isn't a support champion at all. B. Locking in a champion for another lane and refusing to support.
I am sick and tired of being forced to support by my team when a player gets autofilled support and then refuses to support and locks the lane that I am given. If I don't support there is a much higher chance that the team will fail by having two laners in mid or top or having a champion in bot lane that is absolutely useless as a support.
I am literally having to play double the amount of support games than other player because not only do I have to support when I am autofilled, but I also have to support when someone else decides that they are immune to this feature. The current system in place that ensures that you get one of your two preferred roles for a few games after is completely useless if players decide that they aren't going to play the role they are assigned.
Also, it seems like autofilling occurs much more often this season in comparison to last season. Perhaps this is because there are two separate queues now and Riot has to increase occurrences of autofill to make queue times more bearable, but I honestly wouldn't mind waiting 7-10 minutes if I actually was going to receive one or two of my preferred roles.
I would like to add an endnote stating that I personally believe that players should have the knowledge to play all roles. No, I don't mind having to play a game of support every now and then, its just part of the current system in place. However, I shouldn't be pigeonholed into filling for my team more often than not due to trolls. Playing my preferred roles is what makes the game more fun for me.
