League of personal problems

Hey guys (or gals),

I've played league for a bit and, at first, loved the game. Lately, I've seen that the game has been affecting my life. It seems that I take this game way too seriously (ranked, in norms I don't care) and I'm not really sure what to do. I'm starting to be upset with everyone around me if I have a bad game, or if I have a really good game and my team fails me. Once again, I really don't know what to do. I enjoy the game itself and how challenging it can be, so much I actually wanted to work for Riot after I get my degree from my college, but it seems that at this point the game does nothing but frustrate me to no end. And with this game being the gateway, it seems any other game I play and that I do poorly in I get mad at. Before League this didn't happen, and now it does. I try to get better but no one will "sit down" with me and teach me about rotations or good times to roam. I just seem, lately, to do give more and more of a poor performance. Though I don't expect to get many response, if any at all, about people helping with my personal feelings or to learn the game more it feels better to get this off my chest. Does anyone have ANY suggestions?

It all comes from you buddy. If you can't figure out, inside, why you don't want to get mad no one can stop you from getting mad. Anger is kind of like a drug. While I understand how hard it can be to resist that doesnt change the fact that I fully expect myself to resist(like I do with alcohol). You decide if you want to wake up in 20 years with a head full of rage, like you decide if you want to wake up in 20 years and be an alcoholic. Take responsibility for taking your baby steps if you want to learn to run.

I can relate to this issue and I'm guessing most people who play this game could admit they had their fair share of anger directed towards a specific game. "League of legends" cough cough. Well aside from that, I have been playing league for quite a while, and have experienced many stressful games, but through all the stress and anger I have found some ways to help keep myself from getting too worked up.

  1. If you are getting really angry at said game, rather than hitting the computer, keyboard, slamming the lid on your laptop closed, or just punching a wall or something grab something SOFT and that WON'T BREAK like a pillow, a blanket, couch cushion, or even your bed. Once you have your object, what ever it may be, punch it, yell into, just do whatever you need to do to get some of that anger swelling up inside of you out.

  2. If you lose or do poorly and are getting angry just take a break, watch some TV, listen to some music, go for a walk, whatever it is just do something that you enjoy or calms you down other than playing said game.

  3. Try not to play when you are on tilt. If you are not aware of what this means, it usually happens when you get on a losing streak or just get completely crushed in lane and get raged at or something along those lines. Anyways while on tilt you are not playing at your full potential meaning you will have more bad games leading to getting angrier at the game. Here's a link describing it in further detail if you want to have a look http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt_%28poker%29 Anyways take it from me playing on tilt just leads to getting more angry, just don't do it.

  4. DON'T PLAY WHILE YOU TIRED, I can't stress this enough. While your tired you are angered more easily, and you don't play as well as when you are fully rested. This combination quickly leads to anger towards the game, and just anger in general. Which will usually lead to putting you on tilt (refer to number 3). To avoid this just simply get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, ect. Just set yourself up for success, put your body and brain in a good position to succeed.

  5. When you start getting worked up, or while your trying to calm down try to remember it's just a game, I know this can be difficult but it is very helpful.

  6. If you have just been having really stressful games and are just about done with those teammates who feed, rage, or are just annoying as all hell, find a group of friends you enjoy playing with who are competent at the game, by doing so you get to have some fun with your friends and escape those teams who make you want to kill someone.

I hope I was of some help, I know since everyone is different these things may or may not help you out, but I know what you are going through and was hoping to be of some assistance. If this doesn't help you, I hope you find something that does or are able to modify what I do so it works for you. Good luck my friend, I really hope either this helps or you can find a solution to this. :)
