tl;dr - changes to the client, out of match, not champion/item balance

When I read this post http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/miscellaneous/WV2VqZca-new-champ-select-qa-with-the-dev-team?comment=001800000002 I started asking myself: are there any small changes that could be implemented in the new client to improve the player experience? I am not talking about adding new systems (like the upcoming crafting-thing)) or anything as complicated as new maps/gamemodes. I came up with two features that could do exactly that, and from my almost-non-existent programming knowledge I think they might be simple to implement. This discussion is to share these ideas and possibly reach Riot (if they do not sound as the ramblings of a madman) and also gather similar ideas that could be implemented while Riot is still working on the new client.

Champion tags tl;dr - add tags to champions for easier champion select This follows directly from the post linked above. By giving players the possibility to add their own tags to specific champions it would be possible to improve champion select. The original point of discussion was the ability to search for champion nicknames or re-label champion roles. I personally do not see much need for nicknames, role-related tags however would allow to move champions to their meta role. You search suppport and Alistar does not appear? Add a supp tag. You search for jungler and the list is empty? Tag all the champions you like to bring in the jungle. Asking for Riot to re-label all champions is silly, first because it's a huge job, secondly because the meta is always shifting.

Ping Test tl;dr - see the ping before starting a game Would it be difficult to add a ping test to the client? I am thinking either a number hiding in a corner, just like in-game or a button to test it when needed if having it continuously on bothers the servers. I know that I can go to cmd and type the IP address to ping the server myself, but doing it from the client would be very convenient. Useless feature? Let me tell you why I think it isn't. If I want to play a casual game I can queue for ARAM and I do not mind the occasional lag spike. If I want to get my daily 150 IP I can go for a bot game and a 300 ping does not scare me. If I want to play seriously, to learn and improve or even play ranked I want the lowest ping that my connection allows for. If I knew my ping beforehand I could choose what to queue for without being afraid of holding back my team in a serious game (and pissing people off for it).
