I'm surprised Riot isn't embarrassed by their new player tutorial/experience. You want people to stick around and keep playing the game, not realize that getting to level 30 is absolute hell, especially when dealing with the account bots in player vs. ai.

Thorn mail allows u to push wave and kill enemy without auto attacking so no player gets stuck in tutorial

Yes that is the tutorial you are forced to build thornmails there.

Now that I think about it, that's weird.

OP asks friend to DL league then laughs at him for being a noob.

The tutorial/battle grounds are horrendously out of date and are in desperate need of an update, but one thing i would say is the most important there is absolutely nothing that teaches jungling as a role now. Jungling has slowly crept as being the most important role next to ADC and new players can not experience anything about it. There's nothing that teaches what supporting is, warding, how to farm efficiently. New players are so deprived as to how the game actually is played.

Did Rammus get a facelift?

League has a gigantic player base so i'm guessing Riot would rather work on keeping players they already have instead of trying to reach out to new ones. Besides, League is by design horrendous for new players between the 130+ champions, 500+ abilities, and 100+ items that all need to be memorized, including meta champs and builds, rune/mastery optimization, power spikes etc. And all that's just the non-mechanical stuff.

If anyone here knows what Vainglory is, that is the MOBA with by far the best tutorial for new players. There's short videos and bot matches set to literally explain every little detail of the game in a nice order from basic to advanced. Even better? The tutorial is updated every now and then if there's any big changes to the game.

So, did they do the second tutorial too? You know... the good one that actually teaches them about the Rift instead of the item shop and basic movement?

I never even played the Tutorial, I just jumped straight into Battle Training, so the Thornmail Ashe joke eluded me for quite a long time until I played the Tutorial for fun.

EVERYTHING IS REVEALED.

TL;DR: Thornmail helps new players fight against Trundle and keep their minion wave pushed ahead. Wouldn't want to lose the tutorial, would you?

This is a Custom game. Why?

One of my first games I rushed a Frozen Heart on Syndra because the Zed kept killing me over and over.

Hilariously, the Frozen Heart made no difference at all. Some things never change I guess.

I 100% agree. There's really no effort by Riot to teach new players anything. I mean, those of us who have more than one account know what it is to be in blind pick and have someone calling bot, then someone calling ADC just because they didn't specifically call it the correct name. Not to mention until level 10 your games are 100% wrong. 2 top, 1 mid, 2 bot. And it's like that why? getting to level 30 takes roughly a month with 5 games a day. The cost of runes, the cost of champions, we would be insane to stay level 30 is remotely close to understanding the game. I get that its supposed to be a bit complicated, this isn't a plug and play type game. There is a learning curve and I am all for that. But new players really have no clue. And when smurfs get tilted at them (because thats how the league community works) they just lose all desire to even be a part of the team.

In recent weeks I stopped queuing with anyone. Only solo. And muting my team, because 70% of the games are nothing but ragetards in all chat talking about "report jungler no ganks." and "omg youre playing Orianna, your a shitter." and everyone's favorite statement, "GG no counterplay."

League is terrible for new players. And opening ranked to them at level 30? Yeah throw all these new people in bronze that have zero clue how a game works so they all last 45 minutes and go either way. That's Elo hell. (Not there anymore thankya jesus.)

The LEAST riot could do is add an encyclopedia page where all the info on league is, like creep strengths, jungle camps, tower mechanics, etcc.

Chønklord6/7/2017, 2:22:12 PM2 votes

Riot already has acknowledged they focus on the existing player base rather than new players. Hence their shit "tutorials". It's pathetic really when you realize that a company the size of riot (and income) simply refuse to invest the effort to provide the bare minimum in new player tutorials.

incidentally... here comes the next thornmail nerf from riot

http://bfy.tw/F2O there are a lot of resources to learn how to play, some of the first ones that pop up have very general things but here are some others I found useful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9FHgedXEsI (watch on 1.25 speed) / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gabDB5-5OdY

Phylol has a lot of good videos on basics and advanced stuff.
