The Current Balance State of Rageblade, Not The Champions

Ok let's look at the stats this gives..

AD +30 AP +40

Stacks grant +8% attack speed, +3 attack damage and +4 ability power for 5 seconds, stacking up to 8 times, granting a total of +64% attack speed, +24 attack damage and +32 ability power.

Total AD with 8 Stacks= +54 Total AP with 8 Stacks= +72

Basic attacks deal +20 (+ 15% bonus AD) (+ 7.5% AP) bonus on-hit magic damage to the target and nearby units in an area of effect.

So with the Rageblade alone with no items grants you +20(+8.1)(+5.4)= a total of +33.5 on hit damage.

Personally, I believe the flat stats it grants & the numbers stacking up needs a nerf. The on hit damage numbers seem to be in a pretty poor spot as well, but that is because of the numbers this item gives it alone. I believe they should focus on making it as a late game scaling item that is a really poor to rush item in the early game & even then as a late game item the on hit wouldn't be as insane as it is currently.

Riot just nerf the Flat Stats and the Scaling Stats on the stacks. This item is in a really poor spot right now when it comes to balance. We see devourer champions abusing this item way too often such as Master Yi and mostly Jax. I'm putting my concern out there as a Jax main, I want the game to be fair for everyone and Jax was in a pretty good spot until this got a masive buff. Plus the ban/pick rate of Jax is absurd at the moment, which for us Jax players makes us turn to other champion picks.

If you decide to nerf the champion it would not do too much since rageblade is abused by so many different champions right now. Just way too unfair to the game right now and makes it anti fun even for me to play as Jax.

With Deepest Concerns,

Dunk Master Jax

Rageblade with 8 stacks is worth 5800 golds.

5.8.0.0. golds. For an item that costs 2500 golds.

No other item in the whole game is so damn cost efficient.

Rageblade is downright stupid on too many champions. People are just starting to realize it, but I highly suggest that you all try the following champions with Guinsoo :

Aatrox XinZhao Irelia MasterYi

They are not as monstruous as Jax or Kayle , but don't worry, unless you run into them, you will slaughter everything on your path. And don't even start by telling me that all these champions are hybrids. They are not. They have mixed damages (not Yi though) and a couple of AP scaling so that they get a little more power with Nashor, but that's it.

Rageblade needs 3 modifications :

  1. Massive increase in cost => 3400 is minimum (same as BORTK).
  2. Melee champions no longer get 2 stacks every AA. Many abuses come from champions that have high AS and there is a reason for that.
  3. Modify receipe accordingly to the cost. In order to keep some coherence, create a new "mini-guinsoo" that only gives AD and AP and add a Recurve Bow to it. Guinsoo build path is terrible but since it costs little, we accept it. With increased cost, the receipe needs to be reworked hard.

Guinsoo also probably needs to be hard nerfed on its stats (especially Attack Speed), but I would still be happy (for now) with the above 3 modifications.

Until then, I strongly recommend you to perma ban Jax . People are starting to abuse this champion with Guinsoo and the result is disgusting.

I wouldn't call this item absurdly over-tuned, but indeed very strong. Old Rage blade gave the following stats.

Cost 2600 40AP 30AD

4%AS per attack 4 AP per attack

The price went down 100gold, the attack speed per attack was doubled and they added a 3AD per attack. Revert the price to 2600, revert the AS to 4% from 8% and keep the rest the same. The unique passive is what makes this item even purchasable now.

or just buff thornmail.

on itself the on hit damage doesnt seem bad. at least from rageblade alone. wits end gives you 40 on hit damage direct upon buying the item for example. though i guess with a couple more ap/ad items, rageblade gets a little bit wild.

but thornmail is in a generally shitty state atm since its last change. the item was supposed to be better against on hit builds with the way its new passive works, but is neither really good against crit builds nor heavy attack speed focused builds right now as the actual damage return values are incedibly underwhelming.

we kinda could use a better thornmail with all the heavy auto attack buffs.

In order to make it a lategame item, they should grant %arpen and mpen on this item (and nerf the other stats). Flat stats make this item strong early, %pen would make this item late, as simple as that.

Just play Riven against Jax. Keep him from farming, dominate his lane, carry the game before he can get anywhere near being good.

Even if Jax has his rageblade, Riven still cooks him (like anyone really) if you beat him early and get an item advantage.

They change it from a unique passive to a phantom hit so it doesn't stack with devourer/typhoon claws and it would be fine jng-wise

Lane-wise idk all i can say is remove the base AD/AP and add it onto the stack bonus that way in order for this item to work you actually have to attack And increase the price to a 3.3k item and let it stack only on champions that's it.

That's all the suggestions i have

I agree that it gives way too many stats now for its price, but rageblade should always be a first or second item rush. It makes no sense as a late game item IMO. They just need to cut the amount of stats it gives from stacks in half and raise the price to 3000 while keeping the base stats and on hit passive the same. Remember that it was almost the same last patch and nobody ever bought it. Nerfing it to make it much less gold efficient will mean it will never be bought.

Upvoted for the name But yea, this item is crazy. AP Yi is returning. My Rammus can barely stop it.

Skarner with item 3931 item 3124 item 3812 item 3046 item 3031 and item 1306 it is some of the most broken stuff i have seen

Riot should start by making it so melee champions stack one at a time as well. See where things are standing at that point. If it's still too strong, then scale back the raw stats and improve the OnHit effect's power to compensate.

I like the item overall, but its problem is that it's too difficult for most champs to stack and too rewarding for those who can.

My vote is to nerf the stacking bonuses, nerf the double stack for melee, and revert it to build stacks on ability cast like the pre-rework version. This way it's a more usable item for more champs, more reliable to stack and keep stacked, and less outrageous for the niche few champs who can maintain stacks and cheese full value from all the stats.

Like, this is a perfect example of an item that champs like Ezreal, Tristana, MF, Teemo, Kat, Akali, etc should be building. But it's competitive/synergistic enough at low stacks to make it worth buying, and it's too difficult to maintain high stacks to get reliable value from it.

Also, I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned Evelynn yet.

This item is already late game scaling considering how its passive works.

As a first buy its not that strong. you first need to stack it up your opponent knows this and can just disengage.

The who point of the hybrid items, is to give enough stats for hybrid champs to use as the lose out on getting armor/magic pen. The stats need to be high to make up for that
