The target symbol never toggles when I press Q.

The target symbol does not show up when I activate an ability, and there's no option to then click on something. Every ability is like Cassiopeia's Q.

Do you have quickcast on?

Hit escape and look in the keybind options. You probably have accidentally turned smart cast on. Honestly, I recommend keeping it like that and getting used to it. Once you get used to it, it'll improve your gameplay by a lot, especially accuracy with skillshots because of how fast it is.

If you want to turn it off, though, there's a button at the top of the keybinds menu in the options (escape while in game) to turn them all off, or you can click the arrow beneath each of them to turn them off individually.
