Ranked Provisional placement

I'm slightly confused on how the provisional pan out. Me and a buddy played all 10 games together duo. Won 8 out of 10 and I get placed in silver 5 (seems low for 8 out of 10 considering the next 3 down were 6 out of 10 but w.e) and he gets placed in bronze 2 i understand that's not terrible far away. However both of us were top 2 on our teams a good majority of the time (in kills and damage). How he gets bronze 2 on 8 wins is beyond me anyway. Specially considering I received silver 5 last season on 5 wins. Anyway just curious thanks guys.

First, let's get this out of the way: That is literally all but meaningless. Especially your K number.

Why was my partner placed lower though we have the same wins?

The short, approximate reason for why this happened: You won 8 matches, but you won 8 matches against lower level opponents. You were paired against lower level opponents because of your MMR (a measure of how well you have played). And for the same reason, you were placed in lower divisions. So, from this, we can induce that your partner has a lower MMR than you do, so he was placed in a lower division so that ranked play would be fair to him. You wouldn't want to be placed solely according to your win/loss ratio.
