Can mordekaiser go back to being balanced as a solo laner?

It's very clear that the morde rework was an experiment on riot's part in an attempt to diversify the bot lane meta and introduce a melee duo lane carry. There's no problem with that, however, I think we can safely call that experiment a failure. After weeks of nerfs after release, nobody even plays morde in a duo lane anymore. His role rate as an adc or support combined is less than 5%, so low that sites like champion.gg don't even record statistics for it. The community does not acknowledge him as a duo laner, and now the 95% of morde players playing him as a solo laner or jungler pay the price of reduced numbers to compensate for the passive on his w. I personally think the rework was very cool and exciting design for a previously boring and unpopular champion. I just wish they didn't then slap that passive on his w, crank his numbers super high, and sell him as a duo laner. Has riot made any statements recently on how they feel about morde as a duo laner, and whether they ever plan to return him to solo lanes?

No official Riot statement on where they think he'll fit.

Buuuut The head of the VGU Team Reav3 shared some of his "personal" thoughts and told me that he thinks his concept fits better as a Top laner.

For the time being we're just stuck with the current Morde though, for the better or the worse, I still enjoy him a ton (especially top and jungle). VGU 2017 hype?

WTF?! A Mordekaiser thread NOT made by Malicious or WMNA?!

Personally I preferred his old kit. It was solid and there was nothing wrong with it. Granted, I WOULD like to see him keep his dragon.

You're right. Mord was an experiment. And it failed. Horribly. So Riot effed up his current mess of a kit and then left him to die instead of, I don't know. Giving him something that wasn't broken.

I can't say that Mord ever needed "fixing" as a "Juggernaut". Before his rework, he filled that roll pretty well. I am sure I am not the only one in the boards to remember the nightmares of a fed tanky Mord. But Riot refuses to admit they done goofed, and so Mord is left to rot until his next rework.

So remember, kids. Riot does not care so long as you loosen your wallets for every pretty new skin. Hi, Ashe!

It'd be nice if they did a mini rework to Mordekaiser to make him more desirable to play in the top lane. His lack of CC, low mobility, early game squishiness, use of health, and him primarily dealing magic damage makes him feel kind of bad to pick :(. I think it'd be cool if he got a little bit of CC, say if his E rooted targets for maybe 0.5 - 1s, and adjust the rest of his kit accordingly so that he gets picked top more often.

I'd like to see him be less annoying to play against/less of a toxic playstyle

He's already doing okay in solo lanes, his W is just buggy AF rn.

I always wondered why they didn't make him a full on jungler if he apparently unbalanceable in solo lane.

I remember, how back in the day picking Yasuo into Mordekaiser was a dead sentence.

I picked the new Morde in a normal and ended up playing against Yasuo. Got shrek'd so hard I felt bad for my team.
