I have a quandry about the 10 ban system
As a preface I love having 10 bans, and its a huge improvement to the 6 ban system. Before being First pick was nothing but a chore, really, and when the 10 bans came out I was excited, but i have a major problem.
When the 10 ban system was being prototyped, it was given to the LCS players in a format that worked as such. The first 3 of each team would ban, then the first three would pick, then the last 2 of each team would then ban and pick repsectively.
This format, in my opinion, was fucking genius. I immediately started thinking about all the counter bans and things you could do with it. Enemy locked in Kog Maw? Quick, ban Lulu. Enemy locked in Malphite? Quick, Ban Orianna. You get where I'm kind of going with this. I was 100% fucking ready for this, and I was so excited.
But, instead what we got was a system that technically gives us 10 bans, but its 10 POTENTIAL bans. If everyone on each team both happens to ban the same champs, we're down to 5 bans. Why would the LCS players get something that works, allows counter picking and counter banning, but throw the live players this hodgepodge of a system that isnt a guaranteed 10 ban, but instead 10 potential bans. I genuinely don't understand why Riot would create such an uneccessary schism between its pro players and its live players.
I don't really see an actual downside to giving the live players, especially in ranked, the ability to disrupt and counter act some team comps and such from the get go. I felt really let down when I first saw my team ban Darius, Vayne, Yasuo, Cho Gath, and Zac only to see the enemy do the same, exact, thing.
Can anyone give me an actual reason as to why we cant have the 3 -3 2-2 system that the LCS had?
